At the weekend I was in Wales with my local rambling club when we visited Corwen. Corwen is situated close to a bend in the River Dee and was once an important staging point on the London to Holyhead road, the A5. Today it is best remembered for its association with Owain Glyndwr. In succeeding centuries he has become a potent symbol of the Welsh spirit and the father of modern Wales.

I was on my way back from Hightown Shingle beach where I had discovered the Yellow Horned Poppy when I noticed a small clump of pinkish flowers in the vegetation at the side of the path through the dunes. It looked like bindweed but I was not sure so I took a couple of photos. Sea Bindweed has kidney shaped leaves that are both shiny and hairless.
