Design Inspiration for a Happy Modern Home. A sunny breakfast room. On Mar 20, 2015 in Decorating. Edwardian houses in San Francisco have an interesting architectural quirk known as the sunroom. They sit at the back of the house, often off the kitchen, and have lots of incredible light but are often too small to do anything practical with. A family I recently worked with had a lovely bright sunroom that they wanted to turn into a breakfast area. Although. Mid-Century Modern Meets Chinoiserie Chic. ItR...

Design Inspiration for a Happy Modern Home. The Aptly-Named Horchow Now. The Aptly-Named Horchow Now. On Mar 25, 2013 in News. Have you seen the new Horchow Now. I have to admit I was blown away by the variety and ingenuity of this latest offering from a design stalwart. Aimed at younger buyers, first-time homeowners and the like, the collection includes several Horchow classics but also some brand news pieces that are pretty exciting. The result is a collection so varied that it’s almost impossibl...

http://greencoachhouse.blogspot.com/2011/06/working-outside.html
Greening the Coach House. New city, new jobs - and now a green refurb! Friday, 17 June 2011. So its been ages since our last post. Rather unsuprisingly the decorating hasn't moved much further on, not quite sure why, but I have plans for next weekend, this one being rather filled with another triathlon and then a friends birthday party! Outside, however things are moving a bit. Hopefully no more rotting sheds. And with some help from George and Sue (again! And general weeding and pruning. Oh boy, thats a...

Annales Historiae: Medieval Castle Construction (part I)
http://annaleshistoriae.blogspot.com/2011/05/medieval-castle-construction-part-i.html
Annals of History: musings in Ancient and Medieval History. Saturday, May 14, 2011. Medieval Castle Construction (part I). Today castles mostly stand in ruin: roof, floor, furniture, and any sign of life are centuries gone. Yet these structures still somehow capture our attention as we can't help but wonder what amazing stories their stone walls might tell, what great historic events transpired in their shadows? How did people manage to construct such massive structures without modern tools and machinery?

Design Inspiration for a Happy Modern Home. On Feb 3, 2012 in My house. On Jan 28, 2012 in Decorating. I’ve totally fallen for these hand-dyed pink velvet pillows from Kirsten Hecktermann. I just bought two of them in Persian Green for our new family room (spotted on Remodelista). They look great – they have a vintage feel because of the variations in the dye. But now I want a whole array of them in these gorgeous berry and watermelon shades. White and Gray Bathroom Design. On Sep 6, 2011 in Decorating.

We decided on a round table with a pedestal leg to maximize circulation and allow for extra seating if necessary. Both the table and the chairs are indestructible and wipe clean, which is vital with young children. Then for storage, we added a sideboard and open shelving. See more of the project here.
