Crossing Life's Bridges. We all have to cross bridges, even if we are afraid of them. October 15, 2009. A year ago today, I was laying in a hospital bed after a pretty serious car accident. I don’t remember the exact events, but I remember snippets here and there. Mostly my memories have to do with the people who offered me a part of themselves that day (not to mention the coming weeks), who showed care and concern when I needed it most. A loving and dedicated partner. A daughter headed off to college. A fat bank account. A framed degree on my wall. A surgically enhanced, improved figure. I have none of those things. Instead though, what this last decade, and especially the past two years, have brought are unexpected blessings. True, abiding friendships.
