Crummy Cook: Scotch Broth

http://www.crummycook.com/2013/11/scotch-broth.html

I took a New Year's Resolution in Jan. 2010 to cook every Friday. This blog is about my ups and downs. Sunday, November 3, 2013. Is this the right term? 160; Shouldn’t it be “Scots Broth”? In any case, Debbie has been making noise about doing this for some time (days, actually). She was out of town this weekend and I gradually got the idea of bogarting the whole idea from her and making it my Crummy self. Taking it out soon to see how it did. Crummy Cook: September 2013

http://www.crummycook.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

I took a New Year's Resolution in Jan. 2010 to cook every Friday. This blog is about my ups and downs. Saturday, September 28, 2013. Swordfish with Ujiki Salsa Redux. Well, CrummyCook night last night, and Debbie and I decided to do a Black Salt run coupled with braised-in-butter Brussels sprouts. I got swordfish, and saw a ujiki salad at the fish market, so I impulsively picked it up, hoping to recreate my magic with the original oeuvre. Here’s the fish.  Great as usual. Don’t be carried away by &...

I took a New Year's Resolution in Jan. 2010 to cook every Friday. This blog is about my ups and downs. Thursday, October 31, 2013. Yellow Chicken Curry with Red Rice. Crummy Cook to the rescue last night, since I was home earlier and Debbie later (with a lot on her mind). We’ve used for some time curry mixes from Curry Simple. Thanks to Debbie’s brother Tom, who quietly researches great food on line and lets us (and others) know what he’s found. Debbie made Caesar salad. Saturday, October 26, 2013. The m...

Crummy Cook: Glazed Sea Scallops with Wilted Napa Cabbage Slaw

http://www.crummycook.com/2013/11/glazed-sea-scallops-with-wilted-napa.html

I took a New Year's Resolution in Jan. 2010 to cook every Friday. This blog is about my ups and downs. Saturday, November 16, 2013. Glazed Sea Scallops with Wilted Napa Cabbage Slaw. The genesis of this one: one old(er) head of Napa Cabbage languishing in the hydrator drawer a lamb recipe that required overnight marination. Solution: get some fish from Black Salt. And do something quick with the Napa Cabbage. 160; Asian-oid scallops on top of a Napa Cabbage-based slaw from recipe here.

Crummy Cook: May 2013

http://www.crummycook.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

I took a New Year's Resolution in Jan. 2010 to cook every Friday. This blog is about my ups and downs. Wednesday, May 15, 2013. As I thought about throwing away an old gas grill, I thought again, and repurposed it as an herb garden.  Original plan was to put the soil right in the firebox, but it was too rusted away on the bottom. Mara took this picture. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Shaped the most by Freud, Althusser, Bob Dylan, Stewart Brand, John Brunner, Ayn Rand, Bruce Springsteen.

Snarky and stuck-up and a hater. MAYBE NOT SO MUCH. Levi and his pals got together yesterday to decorate gingerbread houses at his friend Ethan's house after rugby practice. When I went to pick him up Jennifer (Ethan's mom) told me about the festivities. All the boys but Levi chose zombie themed decoration for their gingerbread houses.". On the way home, sweetly decorated gingerbread house in hand I asked Levi, "How come you didn't want to decorate yours with zombies like the other boys? I need to buy a ...
