A Zooniverse project blog. November 2, 2015. Pictures from our Observing Run in Chile. Steven Silverberg from our science team just came back from South America where he went to observe some Disk Detective Objects of Interest with the DuPont telescope. Here’s his story. The first thing that struck me were the spectacular views. LCO is 2,380 meters (7,810 feet) up in the edge of the Andes. For someone who grew up in the part of Texas that doesn’t have mountains, it was rather incredible. Most of DuPont...

The Open Supernova Catalog. List of Supernovae and Candidates. How Can I Help? This supernova catalog is intended to fill an embarrassing gap in transient science: Of the 39,700 supernovae that have been discovered, only 15,213 have publicly available light curves in an easily downloadable format, and only 5,223 have spectra (see our statistics. Page for details). Please help us fill this gap! Currently, the catalog is maintained by James Guillochon. ITC at the CfA) and Jerod Parrent. And from individual...
