Life on Two Wheels

Life on Two Wheels. Thursday, August 27, 2015. Population densities and traffic jams: a tale of three cities. After reading so many complaints about the awful traffic Metro Manila has, I decided to look at some statistics. Since we love using Singapore as an example, I looked for Singapore data. And used it as a baseline for estimating how many cars there are per square km. One of my expectations is the larger the number of cars per square km, the larger th e probability of traffic jams. Life on Two Wheels: 16000 and counting

http://cyclingphysicist.blogspot.com/2015/05/16000-and-counting.html

Life on Two Wheels. Saturday, May 2, 2015. I recently checked the odometer of my scooter and it's already past the 16,000 km mark. It's been almost a year since I bought it, and it has taken me around the southern Tagalog region, as well as to Sagada during the long weekend of the Philippine Papal visit. My scooter, at the Jariel's Peak parking area. I've also crashed it twice. It has tipped over on its side while parked on an incline, and slipped while I was parking along a muddy highway. And ye...When ...

Life on Two Wheels: June 2015

http://cyclingphysicist.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Life on Two Wheels. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Annual Cost of Owning a Motorcycle. While looking through my facebook feed, I saw an article. In the same spirit, I'd like to show my own calculation of how much a motorcycle costs every year. I will assume a linear depreciation model to make it comparable to the calculation done for the car (although I would think that an accelerated depreciation cost is more natural, since the sudden drop in market value of the car happens immediately after it's bought).

Life on Two Wheels: Beginning in media res

http://cyclingphysicist.blogspot.com/2015/04/beginning-in-media-res.html

Life on Two Wheels. Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Beginning in media res. My love affair with single track vehicles - whether it's a bicycle, a scooter, or a motorcycle - started when I began working for my university. I was reluctant, at first, to learn how to ride a motorcycle. Going to a 10 am birthday party, and then riding home at midday had me swearing I'd get a motorcycle. My friends have teased me about starting my motorcycle diaries, and I suppose this journal should be a suitable response. I hop...

stochastic process: April 2015

A random walk through whatever interests me. When not at work with students, I spend my time in my room either reading, calculating something using pen and paper, or using a computer. I read almost anything: from the pornographic to the profound, although my main interests are mathematics and physics. Buying and Downloading Photos! I hope you enjoy browsing my images! I've been cycling for about 5 years and my passion for the sport has continued to grow. I've spent a lot of time photographing rowing. Over the years, but recently I have turned my attention to cycling, hence this web site! I'd love to be able to give photos away, but travel, equipment, hosting expenses and so on all add up rather quickly. You can help support this service. Though, by simply buying my photos! Battle on the Border.

Cycling Phun

When good cycling comes together with great beer. Phun Day Monday Ride. Today I managed to sneak out of the house for a bit and get some more miles on the MTB. What I really. Need to do is put some miles on the road bike! And chatting a while, then getting back on the road. Got back on the bike, rode for a bit, and then tried to ride back home the way my wife drove when I was Racing The Automobile. I need to do some stupid sh* more often. Back In The Swing Of Things. Pickles goes for a bike ride. Pickles goes on a bike ride to spain but admits it's entirely likely that she may end up going somewhere else but it doesn't really matter because she's got her tent with her so she can stay where she wants and if it all goes wrong she can come home again. as that clever man albert einstein said: life is like riding a bicycle. to keep your balance, you must keep moving.
