Cycling To Australia (and beyond!): August 2009

http://cyclingtoaustralia.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Cycling To Australia (and beyond! A journey to Australia, overland as much as possible, setting off from Oxford in May 2007. Sunday, 30 August 2009. Day 829 - Jeongdongjin. Oh dear, aren't you the lucky ones, another post just two days after the last one. Don't worry, it's only a shortie. With Christine's bike as fixed as it is ever going to be on this trip we set off north stopping just a few kilometres later at the town of Donghae. Looking at the map all the roads and the railway. Friday, 28 August 2009.

Cycling To Australia (and beyond! A journey to Australia, overland as much as possible, setting off from Oxford in May 2007. Friday, 19 March 2010. Combe - Back home. It’s has taken me a long time to write up the last little day of my travels, so to make up for it you have a bit of waffle to go with it. The ride from Aylesbury to Combe was uneventful, but pretty much what I expected, after all I was following a route I knew for the first time in almost 3 years. The trouble was that suddenly. 8221;, &#822...

Cycling To Australia (and beyond! A journey to Australia, overland as much as possible, setting off from Oxford in May 2007. Sunday, 31 January 2010. Day 988 - Richmond, Virginia. I made my way north out of Oxford on highway 15 and just before the border with Virginia took a small road to the right to look for a spot to camp. I explored some lovely oak woodland but I could. Whilst I stayed at the motel I saw a news item on the television. It said it had been proven that it was not dangerous to talk o...

Cycling To Australia (and beyond! A journey to Australia, overland as much as possible, setting off from Oxford in May 2007. Tuesday, 9 March 2010. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I set off to ride back to my home in Combe, only a short ride of about 50km, but that will take me to my journey’s end. You mention the airport adverts for knitted socks that you wouldnt be seen dead in - and the first gift you are given when you are back in blighty - knitted socks! 9 March 2010 at 14:40. 9 March 2010 at 14:43. Cycling To Australia (and beyond!): December 2009

http://cyclingtoaustralia.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Cycling To Australia (and beyond! A journey to Australia, overland as much as possible, setting off from Oxford in May 2007. Tuesday, 29 December 2009. Day 954 - Morgan City, Louisiana. I left Silsbee with just the intention of taking it easy and trying not to make myself feel worse. I plodded into a slight headwind but made reasonable progress. By the time I had passed through Mauriceville it was time to start looking for a place to camp, the road ahead looked good, plenty. Do you need any money? 8221; ...

Because I Hate Airports: June 2011

http://becauseihateairports.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Because I Hate Airports. Cycling over 11,000 miles from London to Australia, to raise £20,000 for Shelter. And because I hate airports. WHERE ON EARTH AM I NOW? Friday, 10 June 2011. I thought I'd share some photos of New Zealand. I went there two days after arriving in Brisbane, as my brother had to renew his Australian visa, and had to leave the country to do so. Enjoy! Posted by Oliver Robbins. Monday, 6 June 2011. Mission aborted, sadly. Warned me that this could happen. A little. Does it matter?

THE BIG TRIP ... an outdoor life hiking, cycling and paddling: Practicing self rescue on the river Elbe

http://christine-on-big-trip.blogspot.com/2014/11/practicing-self-rescue-on-river-elbe.html

Thursday, September 18, 2014. Practicing self rescue on the river Elbe. Still enthusiastic about paddling I had published my paddling trip report about Sweden on a German outdoor forum - and had received a very interesting answer. Wilbert, a German paddler I had not known before, was so touched by my whining about potatoe sack kayak entry methods that he offered to give me some paddling lessons. I am always eager to improve my paddling technique but this was November in Germany! That you have been dream ...

Monday, September 29, 2014. So tomorrow was transit day. Everything went do much better than I had expected. My lucky streak started in the morning when a gentleman walking three dogs asked me about my trip. After chatting a bit he not only offered to take me to the train station by car but he also invited me to stay in his summer house in Dalsland at the end of my trip. Packing up at Lidköping. Saturday, October 25, 2014. Paddling across Southern Sweden: Conclusion, tips and route alternatives. Season: I don't think that the archipelago gets "overrun" anytime so paddling there is enjoyable as long as the weather permits it. Götakanal East and West:. Vänern - more like the sea. Season: As this canal is used by commercial traffic locks are operating year round. I have already written an extensive conclusion. Slow Boat to Somewhere: I'm off!

http://slowboattosomewhere.blogspot.com/2011/06/im-off.html

Slow Boat to Somewhere. A journey along England's canals. Sunday, June 26, 2011. There hasn’t been an update for a couple of weeks, mainly because not much has been happening. Chris Wren and his wife. Maffi and Bones were the first boating people I spoke to after I decided to buy a boat, Bones being a regular columnist in the Canal. Boat magazine. I’ve been following Chris and his wife, who live on Wren’s Nest, up and down the Oxford canal for the last couple of months. Minority, most men are sociable.

Slow Boat to Somewhere: Suicidal Birds

http://slowboattosomewhere.blogspot.com/2011/06/suicidal-birds.html

Slow Boat to Somewhere. A journey along England's canals. Monday, June 13, 2011. There was somebody knocking on the side of the boat, it sounded urgent. Typical, I was in the shower. I guessed correctly what the problem was, a boat had passed too fast causing the rear mooring pin to be pulled from the ground leaving my back end drifting across the canal. By the time I was dressed my new neighbour was already pulling me back towards the bank. I suspect the males feathers change colours at an older age.

Hell, yeah!

Wednesday, 22 February 2012. Look Mum No Hands. Look Mum No Hands, is a new cycling themed restaurant bar recommended to me by a work college, who is also one of the biggest cycling enthusiast I know, second to Terry Rawlinson! This is all part of my immersion into the cycling culture which has took off since the beginning of this year! I used to do a fair bit of cycling around Wales, recreational cycling on a Trek mountain bike which compared to my new toy handled like a tractor with four flat wheels!

Emily & Sebastian's cycle adventure

Emily and Sebastians cycle adventure. Sunday, 31 August 2014. It seems like a long time ago since we finished the cycling leg of our trip in Denmark. The return home seemed to take forever, and we were very glad to walk through the door of our house on Friday. Once back in Hook of Holland the sun came out and we had time to reflect on our trip. We had ridden just under 1000km, had stayed in 25 different campsites, had visited about 50 different playgrounds, had worried about the children getting suns...
