Sometimes, the journey is more important than the destination
The Next Trip: Holland | Cycling to Rome
https://cyclingtorome.wordpress.com/2014/08/29/the-next-trip
Sometimes, the journey is more important than the destination. Where I’ve been. The Next Trip: Holland. August 29, 2014. Naturally, the instant one trip has ended, the foremost thought in my mind will be ‘where next’? Reasons for choosing Holland:. 1 Amsterdam – goes without saying it’s our first port of call. 2 It’s a well-documented cycling nation, therefore good cycling paths will be the norm. 3 They speak English (lazy I’m aware, but it makes things so much easier). 4 Wonderfully friendly locals.

Belgium Part II: The Contrailer Park | Cycling to Rome
https://cyclingtorome.wordpress.com/2015/01/23/belgium-part-ii-the-contrailer-park
Sometimes, the journey is more important than the destination. Where I’ve been. Belgium Part II: The Contrailer Park. January 23, 2015. The place was essentially a container park, with a dirt road running through it, with vans and pickups sporadically driving past, inevitably staring at us. Incredulously each and every time they passed us. Far from a sensible place to sleep, were pretty chuffed. Flat tyre, money, time, and pretty honestly, Belgium deflated our trip after the highs of Holland.

https://cyclingtorome.wordpress.com/2014/09/19/a-complete-cycling-touring-equipment-list-summer
Sometimes, the journey is more important than the destination. Where I’ve been. A Complete Cycling Touring Equipment List (Summer). September 19, 2014. Prior to the previous summer’s trip, I had some decisions to make as to what standard of gear to buy. Namely, how likely am I to actually need this? How often will I use it after this trip? Gear included. So basically, I knew my main gear was in need of an overhaul, namely my panniers and lack of a handlebar bag. Updated Full Equipment List. 20-25 –...

Winter is coming | Cycling Dutch Girl
https://cyclingdutchgirl.com/2015/01/11/winter-is-coming
The only certainty is change. January 11, 2015. I was thinking how funny it is I went to Iceland to ride the ring road in winter and allowed myself 3 months. Where in Canada I’ve given myself a month to ride a distance that’s nearly twice as long (but only a fraction of the country). I’ve been in search of winter. A cold clear wintery landscape is just stunning and magical. And I want to see how far I can push my comfort zone. Problem is the weather has just been pissy and wet for quite a while now.

WHERE ARE WE GOING? Tuesday, July 1, 2014. 10 reasons why Japan is a great country for bike tourism. 1 It's really safe. You can leave your (locked) bikes on the street at night and sleep in a tent in a park and your gear won't get stolen and you won't get harassed. There's a lot of traffic but the drivers are polite and generally drive at a much lower speed than they would on a similar road in Europe. 2 It's not as expensive as you'd think. 3 The people are very friendly. 4 The views are amazing. A smal...
