Tuesday, 14 September 2010. Keeping the Faith (or why I write short fiction). The best birthday present I ever received changed my life. I was 23, an actress, playing Eliza in Pygmalion. A year on, broke from the non-existent profit earned on our profit-sharing tour, the group split and I landed the Italian job. Criss-crossing from Turin to Calabria in the pre-dawn dark for a series of one-night-stands, for the first time in months I longed to take comfort in a book. My birthday fell in a week’s br...

SusannahRickards: Gorgeous Pink Rag
http://susannahrickards.blogspot.com/2011/02/gorgeous-pink-rag.html
Tuesday, 22 February 2011. I attended a workshop recently by a successful author who gave out lots of fine advice along with this: ‘Get rid of all adverbs and adjectives. They are unnecessary. Bad writing.’ (Presumably she should have cut ‘bad’ from that description and we’d be left with the core villany: writing.). When Nick sees Gatsby standing on the threshold to his mansion, he describes the man’s. 24 February 2011 at 14:39. Love this post. You are awesomeness! 21 March 2011 at 04:30. Also wanted to ...

Wednesday, 8 December 2010. Here then is a reprint of the two-part blog I did as guest spot on Emma Darwin's This Itch of Writing, outlining in Pt 1 what really happens to your script once you send it out, and in Pt2 some of the things you can do to improve its chances. With a surprising consistency over the...

tennesseEgans: Elegant errands
http://tennesseegans.blogspot.com/2012/03/elegant-errands.html
Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Grace and I enjoy our time together while her brothers are in school. After she plays, has breakfast and takes her nap, we often have a couple errands to run on the way to pick up Sawyer from ECDC. Gracie likes to look cute even when her day consists of a trip to Walmart and Chipoltle with Mommy and Grandma. Any day can be a tutu day! Any day can be a tutu day Amen sister!
