There are various different forms of transport to get you around the park. There are loads of them and they're free :). I can imagine it being extremely hot in the summer, but we were here in April and walked almost everywhere. There are smaller versions of the same. No, I'm not a trainspotter / bus-spotter! Yes, yes, yes! Oh - and, of course, the Cablecar. Makes getting up the main hill so much easier! I think it opens at 4am for those looking for a sunrise photo. It's a very quick ride. Phew!

There is no ATM in Danxiashan. Specifically, take RMB - there's nowhere to change $ or HK$ or anything else. More to the point, there is nowhere that accepts Visa/Mastercard/Amex etc. Amazing but true. If you want a guide, don't let me stop you - though I'd recommend you test their language skills first. In all honesty, though, if you're here to visit the main sites, it's easy to get around and the information is surprisingly good. Apparently, the best time of year to visit is September.

Our hotel. Four stars, no less. Officially, that makes it a * * hotel ;). More to the point, the only four star hotel in town. Trust me, we looked at the 3 stars and it wasn't a difficult choice. I don't know what four stars means in your neck of the woods, but here it's different. Very different. Having said that, it was comfortable and clean.
