Thursday, 23 April 2015. Spargel Everywhere: The Monochrome Set Germany Tour 2015: Part 5 - Hannover and the journey home. Outside Faust, Hannover. I must say I was banking on the darkness of the venues obfuscating the worst of the creases, but the daytime just couldn't be helped. Then already by Frankfurt I had managed to sleep all night in my contact lenses. Toner on the left, cleanser on the right. And although I had brought actual shampoo with me, several times I went ahead and chanced those strange,...

Regular readers will be aware that from time to time, I go a little bonkers on Bonkers. More bonkers than usual, I mean, typically by researching a topic of interest to the absolute max. It damn near kills me every time and I still never feel satisfied that I have scoped all the options. As with the bathroom renovation. As for why I chose to go mad on this particular topic...

Bonkers about Perfume: August 2014
http://bonkersaboutperfume.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, 31 August 2014. Love the one you're given': a tale of Grand Amour no more and my dual Goutal windfall. Seriously luxe packaging for an eBay buy. Of estimating of the time in a typical shift. Anyway, I remained calm and polite and he promised to come back and deliver the package when he had finished at that end. Sure enough, he was as good as his word, helped by a little note I had affixed to the door, pointing to the (admittedly rather archaic style of) doorbell that you twist to operate. The atm...

Bonkers about Perfume: February 2015
http://bonkersaboutperfume.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, 28 February 2015. Déjà Vu from Signature Fragrances, and thoughts on tenacity and 'lasting impacts'. As readers may deduce from my recent reaction to Bogue Profumo's MAAI. I have come a long way from the days when only perfumes described as 'wispy', 'delicate' and 'subtle' called my name. I can take the odd heavy hitting diva scent these days - even one with animalic notes of all unlikely things! I'll be honest, because of the sub-title underneath of 'Fragrance Oils'. And The Smelly Vagabond.

Thursday, 14 May 2015. An earthy yet unworldy scent: Bright Earth Parfums Eau de Earth review, and another milestone giveaway! So last month I was quite taken aback - in a good way - to receive a very personal, direct approach from the owner of Bright Earth Parfums - a 'down to earth'. Approach, if you will. The gentleman in question, Nicolas Fromanger, is a French national living in New York. I was immediately drawn to his surname, which is just a surplus consonant away from Fromager. Various things int...

Bonkers about Perfume: March 2015

Tuesday, 24 March 2015. The Jasmine awards: a memorable way to start the day (very early! Plus Penhaligon's Ostara mini-review. Regular readers - well, even very recent readers of my last post! Will know that I am not a morning person. So you can imagine my great surprise to find myself at the BAFTAS venue in London last Wednesday morning at 8.30am. You read that right - actually in London at 8.30am! That's as opposed to.er. .in the bathroom. Couldn't dry my hair in front of a mirror either. Bed slop...

Bonkers about Perfume: Daring to dice with expiry dates: Ormonde Jayne Ta'if Hydrating Bath & Shower Crème and REN Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm, versus some old soap or other

And in a parallel exercise, I have also been testing some out-of-date toiletries, to see how injurious and/or efficacious they are, long after they notionally expired. For the increasing complexity of modern skincare regimes, with specific products for this or that step - preferably several indeed. But when it comes to m...

Bonkers about Perfume: October 2014

Saturday, 25 October 2014. An updated stocktake and an even odder giveaway. Source: community.babycentre.co.uk. I was surprised to clock the fact that today is the fifth anniversary of Bonkers about Perfume! I have missed a couple of anniversaries in past years, due to being sidetracked one way or another: the three year milestone found me still in the midst of house move related chaos. While the four year one fell during a band tour. And 'the people matter as much as the perfume, if not more so'. Back i...
