A little deeper and she’ll lose the light. At first. The surface is just touchable - shadows that might be clouds. Or birds in flight She sets her face to the skim. To get the last of the world she came from, some slight. Sense of voices fading as she slips. From almost-day to almost-night, grey-green shading. First to blue, then more than blue, then to a blue never seen. By anyone but her, and that slow drift into darkness set to sever. All that she owned or wanted, all she had ever been.

Faber Poetry Playing Cards: January 2011

http://poetryplayingcards.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Faber Poetry Playing Cards. Monday, 3 January 2011. Introduction to the Pack and Legion by David Harsent. I will also re-read the books that I have already read as it never hurts to read a collection again. A good place to start seemed to be with Legion. A book I had coincidently taken out of the library just before Christmas. Legion won the Forward Prize for best poetry collection in 2005. Harsent has a beautiful mastery of language and there are some breathtaking moments even in the war sequence:.

RASHER / Landscape Memories. JAMES W. NORTON. Landscape plays a pivotal role in my artwork as subject and context. Creating a dialogue between the shifting dynamics of the past, present and future.
