David Haughton Remembered

Sunday, 18 March 2018. DAVID HAUGHTON IN ST JUST. As a past student of David Haughton (Central School Year 1973-76) and later as a staff colleague of his at the Central School of Art (1979-1985), I had great pleasure in organizing a one-man-exhibition of the work which had survived his studio fire at Holland Park, at the private gallery in Regents Park then calling itself The Work of Art Gallery. It was well worth the effort providing David with a feel-good factor ahead of his impending illness. At Penle...

David Haughton Remembered: July 2012

http://davidhaughtonremembered.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 10 July 2012. Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Did you feel at the time that you all had a common goal? Yes There was a common goal. The place was the unifying thing, very much. That feeling was very good but it also had the seeds of decadence in that some of them were very anti-London, very anti-international. Any art movement has its own decay. I cannot see any painting movement not having a negative pole, a cul de sac to which it must inevitably advance.". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

David Haughton Remembered

http://davidhaughtonremembered.blogspot.com/2015/04/pursuing-intangible-david-haughton.html

Monday, 27 April 2015. David Haughton: Pursuing the Intangible. If you are lucky to be in St Just on a clear blue and sun filled day with the sea glittering in the distance, (early May is a good time) you will see how the light bounces off the pavement and the granite walls bringing a clarity to the eye and a stillness, on quiet days, to the scene that somehow almost wraps around you. Rows of cottages and long empty back streets, affected his abiding taste for "stillness, harmony and order". Original wor...

David Haughton Remembered

http://davidhaughtonremembered.blogspot.com/2014/05/haughton-exhibition-2017-following.html

Monday, 12 May 2014. Following an exhibitions planning meeting today at Penlee House Gallery and Museum, Penzance, a date for the David Haughton Exhibition is now set for 14 January - 18 March 2017. This is good news and gives us all time to spread the word and to increase the search for more examples of David's paintings, drawings and etchings, that might be available for loan in 2017 to Penlee House. David Haughton Remembered

http://davidhaughtonremembered.blogspot.com/2014/05/davids-abstraction-yellow-grind-1967-72.html

Wednesday, 14 May 2014. David Haughton's intense, methodical and detailed calligraphy is a reflection of his intense engagement with painting. It also mirrors the many years of David's careful scrutiny and awareness of what interested him most in life, and about art and the activity of painting. These drawings of fine detail, quite unlike the sketches of any other artist I know, could be seen rolled up and stored on wooden racks and shelving in his somewhat cramped studio space when during the mid and la...

David Haughton Remembered: December 2013

http://davidhaughtonremembered.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, 14 December 2013. Central School student of the sixties SARAH writes,. At some stage he told me that he was taking part in an exhibition. This was somewhere in Kensington. Well, one evening after work at Macmillan I went along to it and saw some of his exquisite etchings of St Just. Another thing I remember about him was his great opposition to the proposed reorganisation of art education which later took place. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). LEARNING TO LIVE WITH GRACE. 3 Reasons to Thank God For Weakness. July 5, 2015. Read 2 Corinthians 12: 1-10. How many of you have a weakness that you’d rather not have? Perhaps it is a character trait that you always lamented about. You know, I wish I were not sofill in the blankI wish I were like so-and-so because they have this character trait that I wish I had. Maybe it is a physical trait you’ve always hated. And you think, God, what were you thinking when you made me this way? Scholars are not sure ...

The Blog of David Hausknecht

The Blog of David Hausknecht. The journey is the destination. February 12, 2010. I'm finally in my last semester of college, and I'm obviously doing a lot of forward-thinking. Where is God leading me? Where has He called me? What will I be doing after I finally get that special piece of paper in exchange for 4 years of grueling studying? Thankfully, these aren't new questions to me. These are questions I've wrestled with for several years now. How am I qualified. Really. how am I qualified to. That I sho...
