That's Preposterous: That's Odd

http://davidhollis.blogspot.com/2014/08/thats-odd.html

I noticed on this blog that I didn't write (post) anything at all in 2011. Then I wrote a little in 2012. Nothing at all again in 2013. What is it about odd years? I was born in an odd year, so maybe that means something. Anyway, the writing is something I've been threatening for far too long without delivering on. So beware. It's going to happen. And it may even just happen here. Posted by David Brent Hollis. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

That's Preposterous: My Response To ISIS

http://davidhollis.blogspot.com/2014/09/my-response-to-isis.html

My Response To ISIS. So here are my biggest problems with these approaches and all approaches that employ violence: I don’t think they ultimately solve anything. Violence tends to make things worse. Jesus rejected such methods. Posted by David Brent Hollis. I have found it helpful to hear from Christians who are on the ground in Iraq, particularly Jeremy Courtney from Preemptive Love Coalition and Canon Andrew White from FRRME. Thanks for your thoughts! September 4, 2014 at 10:19 AM. My Response To ISIS.

Stream of Conscious Thoughts on Guns and Chattanooga. Another attack with guns? This time it is military personnel and looks like a police officer killed. In my home state. Maybe something will be done. But what should be done? I don't judge those who hunt. Some people I love a lot hunt. But do their rights to do that really have any bearing on the existence of the kinds of guns usually used in these kinds of crimes? Can't we all agree to outlaw some guns or make it next to impossible to get them? I just...

That's Preposterous: September 2009

http://davidhollis.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

For the love of lambuth. My college has been through a rough spell lately, and i haven't said much openly about it. well, that ends now. yesterday i got a forwarded message that contained a letter written from the interim president to the editor of The Jackson Sun. Well, i guess the interim president has had enough of the lousy treatment. he wrote an excellent letter to the editor. he questioned their motives for continually rejoicing in lambuth's struggles. i would do the same. do those ...Fewer people ...

That's Preposterous

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals. The Dark Before the Dawn. To be brutally honest, one of my biggest fears regarding having a child was the thought of what kind of earth he would live in/on. Would polar bears be extinct? Would Florida be underwater? Would he actually experience four seasons? Which I think he has played several times before. But it hit me in a new way this time. You need to listen to the song. Let’s start singing. Posted by David Brent Hollis. I'm Back, Baby! Then all of the accusations ...

David Hollman's MUCS 101 Listening Journal

David Hollman's MUCS 101 Listening Journal. Finnissy: English Country Tunes. For my last "chosen piece," I wanted to find something interesting to me. I researched to find out what pianists generally think is the hardest piece of music ever written. While it is clear that this is a loaded question (and depends heavily on the strengths and weaknesses of the performer), I did come across an interesting piece by Michael Finnissy (b. 1946). The score of one section is below:. Genre is general instrumental.
