In Search of Edelweiss. We actually got to Austria this time, starting in Salzburg and then south via Villach and Graz to Vienna and back along the Danube Valley. Don’t Bring the Camembert Home! First trip abroad for two and a half years. Heading initially to the S of F via the Loire Valley and making our way home via Carcassonne, Montech and Limoges. Neither Here Nor There. A 9 week trip down through German and Austria to Italy taking in Venice, Lake Trasimeno and Rome. Meander through Western France.

In April 2004 I took slightly early retirement but I have returned to work in a part time position but without the responsibilities of management. I enjoyed my part-time job but as with many walks of life things were changing so I took permanent retirement in lat 2007 at the ripe old age of 61! Margaret retired in March 2007 so we are now real pensioners. So far I have not noticed having any more free time - what has gone wrong! It was our van and two weeks later it was in our back garden!

We left the NEC with our minds buzzing! I had an idea of what our caravan was worth so decided to explore a little further, not realising we were getting in deeper and deeper! The part exchange offered was quite a bit better than I had first thought. We now knew what was on the table although still a bit scary! May 2011 and we are about to set off on a tour of the Baltic coast of Germany. Our last trip away in the van was to a site at Woodstock a month ago and I don’t recall it having rained substantially since then! Let’s hope it’s not about to turn pear shaped! I woke up early at around 6.00am and immediately checked the road alongside the house. Fortunately it was free so I went down and moved the car to make sure I could get the van out of the garden without any problems. Once in France we headed for Dunker...
