This is a more comprehensive history of my musical activities. I began to learn to play the piano. At the age of 6 with instruction from local teacher Jean Small. Performance experience at this stage was confined to playing for family members, although I did play at the end of Morning Assembly at Wolverley Primary School once, which is probably still one of the highest pressure gigs of my musical career! Tuition continued until 1988 from Ann Pursey and Stanley Mitchell by which time I had achieved Grade 6.

More recently I have become interested in English folk music, especially having become a huge fan of Bellowhead and Spiers and Boden. I am learning to play the English melodeon, and first bought a cheap second hand Scarlatti model in D/G on eBay. I fettled this slightly by removing the thirds from the chords by covering the reeds with tape, and modified the air button position to make it a bit easier to play. I also regularly had to compensate for broken springs with elastic bands! Create a free website.

PowerShell Start-Process without taking focus. Earlier this week I had a need to start a process from PowerShell and ensure that it did not take focus. This doesn’t seem to be supported by the Start-Process cmdlet or any other mechanism built into PowerShell, so I quickly built this script to call into CreateProcess with SW SHOWNOACTIVATE.
