DC Metro Retro: ~Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer~
http://dcmetroretro.blogspot.com/2009/10/rednecks-white-socks-and-blue-ribbon.html
A baby boomer's memories of growing up in the DC area. Steak and Cheese vs. Cheesesteaks. Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer. When I was growing up in Alexandria back in the 1960s and 1970s gentrification hadn’t yet made its way to the upper part of King Street. This area, just below the Masonic Temple, was home to The Casablanca, which my friends I are thought of as a dangerous redneck bar. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
DC Metro Retro: ~Arlandria~

A baby boomer's memories of growing up in the DC area. Steak and Cheese vs. Cheesesteaks. Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer. Thursday, October 15, 2009. We moved to the city of Alexandria in July of 1963 when I was 8. One of the perks about our new neighborhood was that it was only a few blocks from Arlandria, a local strip shopping center. DC Metro Retro: ~Oh Yardley!~
http://dcmetroretro.blogspot.com/2009/10/oh-yardley.html
A baby boomer's memories of growing up in the DC area. Steak and Cheese vs. Cheesesteaks. Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer. Thursday, October 15, 2009. For a teenage girl growing up in the late 1960s there not much more exciting than Yardley makeup. Adorned with mod stripes this was the hippest makeup we could buy. With Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton as spokemodels every young girl wanted to have the London Look. If only I had bought a huge quantity of items and saved them for 40 years!
DC Metro Retro: October 2009

A baby boomer's memories of growing up in the DC area. Steak and Cheese vs. Cheesesteaks. Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer. Thursday, October 15, 2009. It’s no secret that I love watching old TV shows, particularly those from the 1950s through the 1970s. I Love Lucy and Leave it to Beaver have to be my top two favorites. I am also a fan of The Brady Bunch, and think some of the episodes are such classics. (I love to use the phrase ”something suddenly came up”.). Thankfully the decor from that t...

A baby boomer's memories of growing up in the DC area. Steak and Cheese vs. Cheesesteaks. Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer. Thursday, October 15, 2009. As much as I love the internet, I don’t think so. And I have never, ever played a video game! Can you tell I have no children? Another favorite was the brand new box of 48 Crayola Crayons. I wonder if the names are the same, like Burnt Umber and Raw Sienna? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
