Whirlwinds of the Butterfly Effect

Whirlwinds of the Butterfly Effect. 8212; Art and Fear by David Bayles and Ted Orland. Do I do it? I don't say much about my work, even actively deflect interest, under the presumption that it speaks for itself. You'll connect or click on, its the nature of www. Still, the void of words belies a deep passion. And so, I became a photographer. And a hiker. The last 2 years have been quite a technical learning curve as I struggle to master this medium of light and pixels. And the resulting photo...But words...

Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Sleeping on the back of her favorite chair. I sleep, sleep is good". Sitting in a box I received some camera equipment in. Why you take picture? She's just so cute isn't she? Anyway, I've been neglecting her too much lately and so tonight I think I'll hook up a new toy for her and play with her for a while :) Oh, and if you're reading this and you love kitteh's, go see www.icanhascheezburger.com. Orion the Photographer: A Ghostly Forest

http://orion-photography.blogspot.com/2008/09/ghostly-forest.html

Tuesday, September 16, 2008. Along the way, we saw 7 Western Toads camped out on the road, absorbing the last heat of the day. We stopped to photo the first couple but after that it was just a counting marathon! We also were amazed to be standing on the road when a large owl silently glided right over us, the only reason we even saw it was because of the near full moon. Gorgeous afternoon light on the remnants of the standing dead forest. The standing dead forest with new growth (HDR image).

The Coast Giant Salamander eating a mouse. The clouds made layers that were just SO gorgeous. Nice capture of the salamander and mouse! Good job on getting out in the rain. I like the moodiness of the last cloud/fog picture. Good job! September 23, 2008 at 3:51 PM.

Orion the Photographer: Water Falls and Mountain Rises

http://orion-photography.blogspot.com/2008/10/water-falls-and-mountain-rises.html

Friday, October 3, 2008. Water Falls and Mountain Rises. It's been a few days since this trip (almost a week actually) but I wanted to write about it, because it truly was one of the most photographically rich trails I've been on in a very long time, and was an absolutely awesome experience that I need to do again. Comet Falls from the creekbed. Some Deer met us on the trail, eating and being wary. Before heading off to escape the paparrazi. Gray Jay (image by Skye) eating a cookie out of my hand. We'll ...

Orion the Photographer: Quest for Gold...Larches that is!

http://orion-photography.blogspot.com/2008/10/quest-for-goldlarches-that-is.html

Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Quest for Gold.Larches that is! Day 1 was spent oohing and ahhing over every glimpse we got of the mountains, and finally, having missed our trailhead pullout being distracted by snow, mountains, ice and in the end an obscure trail sign, we pulled off at Washington Pass and were greeted with beautiful dynamic light and even a trio of Larches for me to photograph in the foreground, what else could a guy ask for? Fall color on the side of the ridge on the way to Maple Pass. We co...

Monday, August 25, 2008. The trail that kicked my. Yeah, so.again with the bugs, only this time with a really difficult trail as part of the package deal. I went hiking up Mt. Dickerman with a bunch of friends to see the sunset, and while we didn't get a great sunset, we got cool clouds, time to commune with the mountains, and lots of cool stuff to see. Headed up the trail, spotted this awesome dead tree. Del Campo Peak from the trail. Sunset over Big Four Mountain. Monday, August 18, 2008. Anyway, she s...
