Too many tears to cut an onion? Light a candle before you start cutting the onion. Wash it in clod water after you peel it and then continue chopping while the candle is lit. For a finer coconut curry. If you are using frozen coconut to make curries, grind it in the mixer while its thawed a little without adding any liquid. Then when you grind it with other ingredients you will get a fine paste. A good indication is to see the bubbles forming and almost moving around to confirm that the yeast is live.
