Brothers at Arms: July 2011
http://brosatarms.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Same family. Very different allegiances. Sunday, July 17, 2011. Original Phil Hughes Returns. Back when Phil Hughes was a top five prospect in all of baseball, he had everyone raved that he hard outstanding fastball control, and a knockout curveball. Here is even a snippet from Baseball America. When they rated Hughes the Yankees top prospect prior to the 2007 season:. Now I'll actually be able to look forward to his Friday start against the light hitting Oakland A's. Links to this post. Ortiz should not...

Same family. Very different allegiances. Sunday, December 19, 2010. Greinke on the Move. Well that will put an end to any speculation before it begins. Just two days after we hear that Zack Greinke demanded a trade. To get out of Kansas City he is on the move to the Milwaukee Brewers. Either way its a shame the Yankees never really got in on it. Good luck to Greinke and here's hoping him and Yovani Gallardo lead the Brewers to some playoff runs. Links to this post. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. The long an...

Brothers at Arms: October 2010

Same family. Very different allegiances. Friday, October 29, 2010. I'm Not Saying. Just saying. I don't want to rain on Josh Hamilton's parade, believe me. His story is inspirational. Overcoming addiction and staying clean is one of the most difficult things a person can do. I applaud him for his efforts and his MVP caliber season this year. His teammates' ginger ale showers after the divisional round and LCS. Got me a little farklempt. Ganja smoking, Rasta. Is likened to Barney Gumble. Links to this post.

Brothers at Arms: Ortiz Suspended
http://brosatarms.blogspot.com/2011/07/ortiz-suspended.html
Same family. Very different allegiances. Thursday, July 14, 2011. For the altercation with Baltimore pitcher Kevin Gregg, in which Gregg was the instigator, David Ortiz received a four game suspension. Ortiz should not have responded physically. Gregg had already been tossed for jawing at Big Papi. I guess you have to get yourself riled up and motivated somehow when your team is destined for the basement, and you have 70 or so games to play. Brothers at Arms: February 2011
http://brosatarms.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Same family. Very different allegiances. Monday, February 28, 2011. Hall of Fame outfielder Duke Snider died. Yesterday. I always found his role in baseball history kind of interesting. As good as he was, he was probably the third best player in his own city. Links to this post. Sunday, February 27, 2011. The other pitcher I was impressed with was Bartolo Colon. Crazy right? Today's game will give us a taste of the prospects. Ivan Nova will start for New York, and he will be throwing to the #3 prospe...

Brothers at Arms: September 2010
http://brosatarms.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Same family. Very different allegiances. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Sabathia was dominant for 8.1 innings to pick up his 21st win of the season. Once the Yankees pushed across their second run of the night with a Mark Teixeira sacrifice fly in the third, you had the feeling that the game was over. That Sabathia just wouldn't let the Jays get anything going. The division is probably out of reach with the Rays having a virtual game and a half lead with the tiebreaker they own over the Yankees, so it look...

Same family. Very different allegiances. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Can Texas Run With the Big Boys. I saw an interesting little tidbit in Jayson Starks Rumblings and Grumblings column. Today Much has been made of Texas's new TV deal that will pay them roughly $1.6 billion over a 20 year period. Many believe that the deal will give the Rangers the financial clout to stick with the Yankees in a bidding war for the services of Mr. Lee. Links to this post. Monday, November 8, 2010. There is a God. Brooks...

Same family. Very different allegiances. Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Sox Victims of Cliff Lee's 3rd Straight Shut Out. I don't know what to say here. Josh Beckett had an off night. Cliff Lee was world class. It was a very boring game from a Sox. Fan perspective. I just sat there waiting for something to happen, and it never did. The Sox. Boston is now 6-7 in interleague. Play It's hard to complain about the system since it's given the Red Sox. I hate these huge inexplicable swings of the pendulum. Would ma...

Brothers at Arms: Mr. 3000... Derek Jeter
http://brosatarms.blogspot.com/2011/07/mr-3000-derek-jeter.html
Same family. Very different allegiances. Saturday, July 9, 2011. Mr 3000. Derek Jeter. Well I would be extremely remiss in my Yankee blogging duties if I didn't post something about my all-time favorite player getting his 3,000 hit in the big leagues. Even with Jeter's recent struggles it is hard for Yankee fans not to love him and hard for any opponent not to respect him for the class and dignity he provided baseball with through one of its darkest eras.
