Dennis Worley

Tuesday, April 08, 2014. The Health Of The Local Church. This photo is a picture of the health of the local church. Fast forward to 3 short years later (April 2014), and I’m pretty sure no one in that room in February 2011 pictured what would be. I took this photo a week or so ago. Jim is retiring this month. He won’t ever really retire - he’s just moving into his next season of life where I believe he will have an even greater impact on the Kingdom. Jim is 62. Brian is 38. Friday, October 04, 2013.

Dennis Worley: February 2012

http://dennisworley.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 24, 2012. Marriage - 33 Years. My first words to Karla this morning were - "thank you for staying married to me for 33 years! I really wasn't kidding! It's pretty amazing to get to spend 33 years of your life with the same person. As I write this, Karla is showing pictures of our wedding to Ben. (we have no video of our wedding because camcorders were not in existence in 1979) Just writing that makes me feel even older than I am. And my kids and grandkids should be grateful, too - HA!

Dennis Worley: She Only Wrote One Hymn

http://dennisworley.blogspot.com/2013/08/she-only-wrote-one-hymn.html

Wednesday, August 07, 2013. She Only Wrote One Hymn. I wish Kate B. Wilkinson had written more hymns. The internet tells me very little about her other than she was from England and she died at age 69. What I do know is that she wrote these words and they matter. MAY THE MIND OF CHRIST OUR SAVIOR. May the mind of Christ, my Savior,. Live in me from day to day,. By His love and power controlling. All I do and say. May the Word of God dwell richly. In my heart from hour to hour,. Only through His power.

Dennis Worley: Bridge Building

http://dennisworley.blogspot.com/2012/04/bridge-building.html

Friday, April 06, 2012. I have lost count of how many of these I have built. Actually, it’s probably only 3, but it could be as many as 5. If you know our neighborhood, one of the things we love about it is the common ground behind our cul-de-sac that connects the backyards of homes on other streets. Between those yards and common ground area are varying degrees of ditches where water flows (sometimes like a raging river) ultimately into the Harpeth River. I chose this week for another reason. So, as cor...

Dennis Worley: February 2011

http://dennisworley.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, February 24, 2011. Today I celebrate being married to Karla Ruth Cox for 32 years. On the one hand, "it's just another year we have been married" - on the other hand, "comparitively speaking, we have been married for a pretty long time.". When asked about his relationship/marriage to his wife, a friend replied in this manner, "I have been married for 35 years.32 of the happiest years of my life.". I love his honesty. Dennis Worley: October 2013

http://dennisworley.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 04, 2013. Take Time To Dance. You may find the following offensive! I can probably count on one hand the number of times in my life that I have danced with my wife. That is not because I’m against dancing, and it’s not because I don’t love my wife. I don’t have any good reasons why I have not danced more with my wife than I have. I just haven’t. 8221; (remember - we never dance….). Her physical interruption of my morning pace was spontaneous, make-me-stop-because-I’m-in-a-hurry, and...

Wednesday, January 30, 2013. I am just absolutely excited for what is in store for my city, my church, my community. I believe that God is doing something in this city and I just can't imagine not being a part of it. I see a lot of leaders coming together—not everyone in leadership positions but nonetheless passionate leaders. something really, really awesome is about to happen! Instant noodles: July 2011

http://feedmikeel.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 28, 2011. Like the world is ending. Monday, July 25, 2011. This week the trend. The past days have been mostly uneventful consisting of mostly me staying in the office during daylight hours, and reading lots of stuff on the net. but there have been a lot of changes in my perspective in the last few days, starting with worship curating. And for our local church, and for our city. And oh, our lovely friend Sarah Cruise is on here way from the States! And she's moving in! How cool is that?

Monday, April 23, 2012. Shall we pass this clarity into fuzziness? I fear what will become of us. I hope we never come back to the days before we. yet though I wonder, I can't help but be happy for the time given to us. wherever this journeys leads, to a fork or not. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Instant noodles: October 2012

http://feedmikeel.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 22, 2012. This truth is captured in one of Mitch Miller's posts;. I've always hated memories, bad ones and good ones. It's easy to understand a dislike of bad memories. they're bad, no one wants those again. But good ones I find equally miserable. They're gone with no promise of return. It really is like an abusive relationship with the past. I think that's why we aren't supposed to dwell there. kind of a preplanned restraining order.". And also by C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity;. watching for fire: Whoosh! Storying through Acts Week 10: Discerning

http://hellokworley.blogspot.com/2014/11/whoosh-storying-through-acts-week-10.html

Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on your altar and watch for fire to descend Psalm 5:3. Thursday, November 6, 2014. Storying through Acts Week 10: Discerning. A W, Tozer, The Pursuit of God. Bless our Christian hearts. We who really want sincerely to make a difference for God and do what he wants with our days, we can really bumble along and make a mess of it. Many of us who have known God for most of our lives are still foggy about the question: "What is God's will? Make out ,. Pick out ,.

Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on your altar and watch for fire to descend Psalm 5:3. Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Storying through Acts Week 11: Extravagance. God has not given us a spirit of fear,. But of power and love and self-control. I've been thinking a lot about fear lately. Here's what I did not expect: fear. If you grew up in church, you've heard that part of the story, but you might not have heard the part about how Paul and Silas got thrown in jail in the first place. The good...

Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on your altar and watch for fire to descend Psalm 5:3. Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Good News for Hard Times Week 4: The Lost Son. The synagogue in Capernaum where Jesus taught. One reason I tell Bible stories: Jesus told stories. How can we picture God's kingdom? What kind of story can we use? With many stories, he presented his message to them,. Fitting the stories to their experience and maturity. He was never without a story when he spoke. By this time, the ...

Now faith is being confident of what we hope for and sure about what we do not see. Faith is what the ancients were commended for. Friday, November 25, 2011. Forgetting what lies behind. I've been here for twelve days (could I say a dozen days? In Manila but it feels like I've been here for a month. so much has happened. this whole experience has been a learning process, involving a bit of pain, and growing up. Thursday, November 10, 2011. The ice cream burger and the Snickers pie we shared was yum yum! I really learned a lot and I tried them again as soon as I got home so I don't forget. my bod hurts but it was so much fun!
