Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. Posts Tagged ‘atlanta crime’. Demarcus Buice denied bond, makes awesome apology. April 12th, 2008. This is a bit of a cross-post from Live For Buzz (still building juice there), but it was a big day for Buzzers down at DeKalb Magistrate Court. The short story (see Live For Buzz for details) is that there is a local perp named Demarcus Buice who is charged with four burglaries and suspected [.]. Read More ». Posted in East Atlanta. Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. Posts Tagged ‘customer service’. Dish Network lied to me; executive customer service guy is a douche. August 15th, 2008. Update: I had also sent an email in to a bunch of corporate email addresses at Dish, and today (Aug. 18) somebody got back to me with an apology for my customer service experience and promise to make the appropriate “adjustment” to my account. Hopefully this is a long-term change in what they are charging [.]. Read More ». Posted in Capns World.

Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. The Pac-10 / Big 12 Merger. June 5th, 2010. Most of the rumors of impending conference shifts this off season have been easy to ignore. But this week’s bombshell. We’ll see what ultimately happens, but one thing is clear. This wouldn’t be teams joining the Pac-10; this would be a merger – the creation of a new “super conference” that has the powers of the Big 12 and all of the Pac-10 as its base. That question can also be asked of individual schools, of course, but this Pac-1...

If A&M is headed to the SEC, who becomes the 14th team? | Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom

Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. If A&M is headed to the SEC, who becomes the 14th team? June 14th, 2010. And now in the fast-changing world of reported impending conference moves, Texas A&M is believed to be leaning toward joining the SEC. Rather than following Texas into the would-be super conference we shall call the “Pac-16″ for now. Split Alabama and Auburn? If Mike Slive ever came up with that idea, he’d be getting a visit from Dale Peterson. Real quick, and that would be the end of the discussion.

Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. Posts Tagged ‘acquisitions’. Microsoft / Yahoo – glad to see it’s (maybe) over. May 4th, 2008. So last night Microsoft officially bailed on its offer to buy Yahoo. Jerry’s kids stuck to their guns on acceptable pricing and scared Ballmer away from a proxy fight with talk of a Google alliance. Well done, I say. The only thing that would have made sense about this acquisition was a really big premium [.]. Read More ». Posted in Media and Things. The Quotable Les Miles.

Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. Posts Tagged ‘ajc’. AJC: Fast-pass security lines are “so-called ‘Lexus lanes’” because we call them that. May 8th, 2008. You have to love The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Dying a slow death as the market it serves grows rapidly, the AJC editors can’t help but deride the people in metro Atlanta who should be their target audience. Case in point is a story in today’s paper about a pilot program at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport that may [.]. Read More ».

Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. Posts Tagged ‘andrew hatch’. A quick post-Saturday thought. October 5th, 2008. LSU could have been left without a competent quarterback this season, and Auburn demonstrated very well yesterday what that would mean. So [.]. Read More ». Posted in College Football. Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. Posts Tagged ‘bulldogs’. This doesn’t bode well for Georgia. August 14th, 2008. The AJC (sometime recently) ran a photo gallery of the field trip to a swimming pool organized by UGA coach Mark Richt (sometime recently) in lieu of practice for his No. 1 – ranked Bulldogs! Judging from this photo of UGA starting QB Matthew Stafford, I’m starting to doubt the Dawgs’ prospect for a BCS [.]. Read More ». Posted in College Football. Every Night Should Be Saturday Night.

Cap'n Ken's Homespun Wisdom. Branding Focus = “Every Night Should Be Saturday Night”. July 13th, 2010. And thus I give you Every Night Should Be Saturday Night. Or ENSBSN for short. If you’re well-versed in the worlds of college football and LSU, you might understand the references. There’s nothing revolutionary or particularly different from The Wisdom in the new site – just branding and focus to reflect what I care to write about these days. Posted in Capns World.
