Media and Whatnot: December 2008
http://emurphmedia.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Mixed with equal parts pop culture and education. Sunday, December 14, 2008. Are you a feminist? Take this facebook quiz to find out:. Of course, think militant PCU Womynists. Funny, but again, intentional satire. “Those aren't women, Tom, those are Womynists" says Droz of PCU (Politically Correct University). Clearly they are the most “P.C.” group on campus right? Did you know that you don’t even have to be of the female sex, nonetheless feminine, to be a feminist? Are you rolling your eyes yet? See, no...

Mixed with equal parts pop culture and education. Sunday, April 19, 2009. Alright, I feel as though this topic earns the esteemed “ I TOLD YOU SO” award. Golf claps. Why? Wait for it.we’ll get there. Be patient, you know you want to read all of the super important things I have to say. Remember when you were a kid and you collected pogs and slammers, baseball cards (big league chew optional), and comic books? Media and Whatnot: September 2008
http://emurphmedia.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Mixed with equal parts pop culture and education. Sunday, September 28, 2008. It's All In How You Look At It. We'll use a commercial for an example. Essentially, commercials generally try to sell you something or in this time of year, every four years, convince you of something. The people that create these commercials know who their target audiences are and may try and manipulate them (no way). So what do you think of John McCain now? I mean other than the fact he looks like an English Bulldog. Eliza se...

http://emurphmedia.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Mixed with equal parts pop culture and education. Sunday, October 26, 2008. There's An Elephant In The Room. Ahh YouTube. YouTube is a phenomenon that I was introduced to a few years ago. I had a coworker that unfortunately (although she was very nice) revolved her life around YouTube. Have you seen this on YouTube? A few blogs ago I talked about the “hollywoodization” (that’s not a word) of gay and lesbian people. For this post I think I will combine that with politics! Oh no she didn’t…. The next clip ...

Media and Whatnot: January 2009
http://emurphmedia.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Mixed with equal parts pop culture and education. Sunday, January 25, 2009. Get Up Offa That Thang. Pop, pop, popular culture. Yes indeedy. There is absolutely no way to deny that popular culture influences our children, education, society, this, that, bla bla bla…and vice versa to boot. Controversial? What is it that we as educators want for our children, our students? To help others develop and maintain skills, critical thoughts, and what else? Be productive members of society? Instead of letting pop c...

Media and Whatnot: Furthermore
http://emurphmedia.blogspot.com/2009/03/furthermore.html
Mixed with equal parts pop culture and education. Tuesday, March 3, 2009. I have a fantastic colleague with whom I love to converse about my Somali students. We recently spoke about how many of these young people, ladies specifically, have a difficult time expressing themselves uniquely due to traditions, customs, and expectations. Avatars, and spaces such as Second Life, allow for more personal freedom without persecution. Yay! Education should be a reciprocal relationship. Educaré. Look it up.

http://emurphmedia.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Mixed with equal parts pop culture and education. Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Like A Rolling Stone. Everyone has heard “Blowin’ in the Wind,” if you say you haven’t, you’re a liar:. How many roads must a man walk down. Before you call him a man? Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
. Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
. Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
. The answer is blowin' in the wind. It’s been s...
