https://diabetesavanna.wordpress.com/2016/05/16/message-monday-dblogweek-day-1
Thoughts on life with T1D. Message Monday – #DBlogWeek Day 1. May 16, 2016. I’d say this diabetes blog is still just a baby, but I thought I’d try to get a jumpstart by participating in. If you haven’t seen it before (though I suspect if you’ve found me, you found me through this), Karen at. Chooses topics for the week, and diabetes bloggers across the Internet tackle the same topics on the same day. Today’s prompt is Message Monday. For this topic suggestion.). May 17, 2016 at 10:58 am. Happy to be here...

Thoughts on life with T1D. April 23, 2016. A few weeks ago, one day before I turned 26, I had my second diaversarry. Two days before that, I had my first A1C check that included only time I had been using an insulin pump. To check your A1C at my endo, the assistant takes a blood sample, sticks it into the machine in the exam room, then walks out. The machine counts down from 7 minutes. The second I’m alone in there, I become Cookie Monster in the Siri commercial. So I celebrated the dia-versarry, the A1C...
Language and Diabetes – #DBlogWeek Day 3 | diabetesavanna

Thoughts on life with T1D. Language and Diabetes – #DBlogWeek Day 3. May 18, 2016. Let’s explore the power of words, but please remember to keep things respectful. Terms aren’t quite as important to me as I thought they would be. I always say I have diabetes, not I’m diabetic. I prefer PWD, but diabetic isn’t so terrible either. Bodies fail. That’s how we got here. I wish we would talk about the scary diabetes moments as body failings, not personal failings. It’s so much harder than you think...The Other...
The Wrath of the Sensor Gods | diabetesavanna
https://diabetesavanna.wordpress.com/2016/06/02/the-wrath-of-the-sensor-gods
Thoughts on life with T1D. The Wrath of the Sensor Gods. June 2, 2016. I use Enlite sensors. I really like them most days. I know they’re less accurate and less cooperative than Dexcom, but this is my first CGM, and it’s a lot better than nothing! Mostly my sensors work okay and we stumble through life together. But this week, the Sensor Gods are angry. Fine, sensor is wrong. By a lot. In these cases, we calibrate if we haven’t already calibrated too many times today. So I calibrated. I’ve had this happe...

The Healthcare Experience – #DBlog Day 4.

Diabetes Care Centre
Thursday, May 8, 2008. Are You Doing Diabetes Care? Diabetes care is a serious issue and needs to be addressed immediately to ensure that more serious conditions don't arise. The key here is personal responsibility and one must accept this to successfully control or reverse diabetes. Do you eat healthy foods? If you answered no to these two questions then you are definitely at risk and should have your doctor check your blood sugar as often as he or she recommends. Diabetes care is not as hard as it is m...

Thoughts on life with T1D. June 23, 2016. Since before diagnosis, I’ve been almost constantly hungry. This isn’t a symptom I’ve read about in many diabetes blogs, so I’m not sure how common it is. I know Am I hungry? Has moved waaaaaay down the priority list when considering whether to eat or not for everyone. But I have really struggled with hunger throughout my diabetes experience, and I wonder if others have too. Once I moved to an I/C ratio (and even better, a pump! The Wrath of the Sensor Gods.
