Thursday, December 23, 2010. On Beginning a Blog. Entering the blogosphere in late 2010 can also feel daunting simply because all the best blog names are already taken. Tuesday, August 23, 2011. TOKYO HEIST cover reveal! TOKYO HEIST has a cover! I'm so happy to be able to share it. Here it is! I couldn't be happier. Japan, especially Tokyo, features prominently in the novel, so I'm glad the city is featured here. I love the glow of the lights, the shadowy figures, and the crime scene tape. The cover artist just nailed it. Here's a summary of the book, also now up at GoodReads. Other news: the book has gone to copyedits, and I have a publication date of June 14, 2012!

Monday, July 21, 2014. This past weekend I had a fun road trip out to one of my favorite independent bookstores: The Odyssey Bookshop. In South Hadley, MA! On the two-hour drive from Boston- I purposely took the longer, scenic route- I started to contemplate how despite my penchant for writing about far-flung travel, this trip to the Odyssey represented a kind of homecoming for me. Thursday, June 23, 2011. Check out my Zombie Flower, back from the dead! I last planted pansies in this pot in Spring 2010. They withered from the summer heat and my general neglect. Then they got dumped on by brutal snowstorms all winter, and spit on by harsh spring rains. But this week, strangely, one has defiantly pushed up through the soil and rotting leaves to raise its head high. Mysterious! I thought pansies were annuals and weren't supposed to do that. This is one hardy pansy. But more intriguing...

Wednesday, November 26, 2014. How Book People Can Help Ferguson Youth. It's the day before Thanksgiving. As I sat down in my local library this morning to collect my thoughts and write an upbeat Thanksgiving-themed post, I found myself distracted by images from the news I'd seen last night and this morning. Images of protestors in Ferguson and in cities nationwide, including here in my own city of Boston, where 45 protestors were arrested. How and where can I direct my energy at a time like this? Is acce...
