A recent acquisition to our selection of 17th century Bonnart prints led us to a funny comparison of different states of the Bonnart’s picture entitled. This picture belongs to one of Bonnart’s allegorical series of the elements. Our copy is similar to the one donated by the House of Worth to the V&A. We have compared. To the one that belongs to the Bibliothèque Muncipale de Versailles and found some spicy differences.

His delicate watercolors were drawn in the 1860′s and 1870′s to be sold to Parisian fashion houses like Worth. Maugas or Ghys or directly to ladies that would take them to their favourite couturier to have the dresses made. Diktats has more than 15 drawings by that French artist who died in London in 1885.
