This was actually a controlled grass fire which jumped containment lines and came within 100 metres of Brisbane homes. Dienstag, 7. August 2012. Today its time to repeate our favourite experience from two years ago. At 8:40am we are picked up by the Whitehaven Express Tour bus. They take us on Shute Harbour Road to Meridien Marina Able Point of Airlie Beach. Mittwoch, 8. August 2012. Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour. We have decided to stay another night at the Airlie Beach Campground and have our first visit to the town of Airlie Beach. The main road is full of tourist stuff. Along the hills and the sea there are holiday cottages and hotels. Even a new marina has been built. We follow the road for another 7km to Shute Harbour - the end of the road. The road takes us through the Conway National Park. There are also ferries which supply the hotels on the islands.

Freitag, 17. August 2012. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Brisbane. In the early morning we leave Dicky Beach back go Brisbane. At 9:15 we arrive at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary near Ipswich. There is an outstanding number of Koalas in multiple enclosures. The Emus share their space with the Kangaroos. A possum is shown. And Leo is glad to see Jonah back. Samstag, 18. August 2012. We started the day with a proper Aussie breaky. At first the kids had pancakes with icecream, banana and maple sirup.
