Wednesday, 21 November 2007. Weigh up the consequences. There’s a bit here today which says almost half of our cats and dogs are now officially overweight. A study's found nine out of ten owners are killing their pets by feeding them cakes, biscuits and yoghurts. Being obese means the animals can find it harder to walk and lead to conditions like diabetes. Just the same as it can in humans. Type 2 diabetes…isn’t that it? There’s nothing worse than a beer keg dog….you know they kind I mean.

Wednesday, 11 June 2008. Look at that big dog. It says here although the countryside may seem the ideal place to go for long walks, people living in the city are much more likely to do exercise. Researchers found living near green spaces made no difference to how much you worked out. True enough. Take it from someone who lives in the country. The only reason I walk further with the dogs out where I live now is if one of the little beggars runs off. 4 legs .Check. Three times as big as me .Check.

People have said to me before that animals can’t make out pictures on the telly….but it used to be one of our dog’s party tricks to go nuts for sports on the box. I thought maybe it was crowd noise got him excited….but he did the same on mute.
