A year in the life of a first grade teacher. Sunday, March 22, 2009. A month of no Mondays. From a teaching standpoint, I'm not a fan of four day weeks. Sure, I love having a day to sleep in and get my errands done. But I absolutely HATE starting the week on a Tuesday. (And when I say "before," I mean playing Christmas music the day after Halloween.) But it was flurrying when I drove home today, so I switched on one of the two (! Last Thursday was the long-awaited meeting for my ADHD boy. I should make a personalized behavior chart for the boy, broken into small time periods, and reward him when he stays on task....

(Most of those reasons are sleep, work, TV, reading. which can all basically be summed up as "lack of motivation."). Distractibility, lack of impulse control, inability (or unwillingness) to accept responsibilty for his actions, poor reading (most likely due to his inability to focus), aggressive behavior (pushing, hitting). A year in the life of a first grade teacher. Friday, April 03, 2009. Two and a half days left. And then it's Easter break! A gloriously long "weekend," with no work from 12 PM next Wednesday until the Tuesday after Easter. That's five and a half days. I plan to enjoy every minute of my free time. On the plus side, my. Has been on meds since mid-March, and the change is unreal. He can sit at his desk without tapping his pencil or falling out of his chair. He finishes his work, and it's done neatly!

Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Two weeks ago, I decided that Wednesdays should be the day for lists. I had a list all planned out for last week, but then some other things happened. my niece, Camryn Eve, came into the world last Wednesday October 19th at 2:24 PM. one day before her due date, which was also my settlement date. So on Wednesday I became an aunt and on Thursday I became a homeowner! Gingersnaps/spiced wafers (I just recently discovered that they are NOT the same thing). Homemade soups and stews.

I was driving home from my parents' house tonight, and as I was flipping stations on the radio (I have severe music ADD), I found a song that deserved to be cranked waaaaaaay up.
