Keep-em-Flying

Saturday, April 22, 2006. Flytec Comp Day 7. The final day of the Flytec comps has arrived. Man this week has flown by, especially for me. At the pilot meeting this morning it was announced that there would not be a task today. A forecast for little or no lift, high winds aloft from the South, and a strong chance of over-development in the form of thunderstorms this afternoon helped them make the decision. All in all I think most are more than happy with the 5 out of 7 days of flying. Flytec Comp Day 6.

Monday, April 17, 2006. Flytec Comp Day 2. I spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on some reading and enjoying the nice, albeit breezy weather. Temps up around 90 but felt quite comfy with the wind. Mrs. Higbee and I had some quality time as well, which we both enjoyed. It's Wine Thirty so you all take care and have fun. Saturday, April 15, 2006. Dragon Flys are Buzzing. One day before the start of the Flytec Championship meet at Quest Air, Groveland Florida. The day started slowly with competitors and volunteers rolling in at a steady pace. By mid day, the glider parking lot was starting to fill and a line started to form to get in some pre-comp practice. Take care and have fun. Bruce and Mrs. Higbee. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saturday, April 30, 2005. To Blog or Not To Blog? To Blog or Not To Blog? That is the Question! For years I have wanted to keep a journal. After many failed attempts at the written variety, I have decided to see if the "electronic" media might suite me better. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). To Blog or Not To Blog? Wednesday, April 26, 2006. I am so bummed I have to try to write this all again. It's never quite as good the second time around! There was an error when I tried to post on Monday and I was unable (even with the help of my IT guy) to recover it. Task 4: a "box the swamp" like last year. Mark predicted this would be the task today and his Tarot Card mind was ON IT! He really needs to retire since that experience will be tough to top! Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Monday March 27 2006. Here I was with warm hands, face and head. with the fronts of my thighs just about frostbitten! Oh and my hips were killing me! But the air was so big, not scary- except the edges were a bit 'over the falls' - I knew I had Ron the Hang2 beat in altitude, my work here was done- so I went to land on top. Not so easy! So I got my hour, Ron got like 3.5! Oh and Ron never noticed his new bird friend at all! Posted by Linda Salamone at Tuesday, March 28, 2006.

http://gottafly.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 31, 2006. I don't know which to start with, the flight or Scott. I guess I'll start with the flight for 2 reasons: #1. even Scott would say flying comes first, and #2. you can all stop reading after the flight if you don't want to hear stuff about someone you didn't know. There was a severe t-storm warning for the area according to Accuweather, but I figured I wasn't ready to leave the people that shared my sorrow so we stayed nearby to fly there. Harry S was setting up a Fledgling(? Saw a l...

After that climb I was very cold and decided to go land, but that was sort of a problem. It seemed impossible to find any sinking air. Sometimes it was blowing very strong, over 20mph, and once I had some penetration issues as I made my way to the gliderport. Posted by Linda Salamone at Wednesday, November 23, 2005. Thursday, February 16, 2006. I was out of town for a bit- looks like I missed a snowstorm! It was 90 degrees in LA on Monday. I wasn't right in LA but in Long Beach- remember I had that one day to fly out in California and I was searching for a way to hook up and fly? Well it worked out great! Seeing a PG in the air with not trouble penetrating was great! Later in the LZ he asked why I turned away! He wanted to come up underneath me! So the 2 plus hours back to Long Beach were mainly my cousin raving abo...

Excellence In Music In Our Schools. Norris Bands represent Nebraska in Washington DC…. Posted July 8, 2015 by Dr. Lee. We’ve made it back! Wow, what an experience that was for the band. Here’s a day by day of our activities while we were in Washington DC…. Day 1 – Long bus ride! We left school shortly after 10am on July 1, taking three Arrow Stage Lines buses. The destination was a little over 1200 miles so the kids settled in for a good long ride. Follow the link below to see some pictures of our travels.
