Mark&Ali: September 2011
http://markandali.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 19, 2011. We are "half back" in Itu now. I (Mark) am home and Ali is finishing her last week state side. Ali is doing an online masters program with Rochester Christian College, and she has one intensive week of classes to kick off her semester of online studies. I had a great day here in Itu. It started early with work on the halfway house. Eric and I were taking off more mortar to apply water proofing. My plumbing is done! What a huge gift and great donation of service! At the end, I'...

Mark&Ali: November 2011
http://markandali.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 5, 2011. We've started a non-profit that has started taking over our lives! We have put new plumbing in, ripped out the old sewer system, and now we're putting our new electric lines into the houses which will receive guys coming out of drug rehab. Our church has been a huge help! This week I got help from João Ortiz, Edson and João Victor to install the conduits for electricity, Carlão to dig for the new sewer lines. Site was set up for us by our friend Deborah. Fares, Maria and Gabi.

Mark&Ali: February 2011
http://markandali.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 19, 2011. There have been some things that we've lived in this last week that have been hard to describe. because I'm not sure that I "get it" myself. One example is the story of Fran. Her story with us started a week ago Thursday, the day after we got back into the country. Fran saw a different world here, and took part in it. She went with us to church and various home groups. When she learned of our plans to have a community center she took us to a place that she thought we ...We le...

Mark&Ali: March 2011
http://markandali.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Last night we had our Celebrate Recovery support group. One of the guys in the group who most recently completed the drug rehab program came to share about the struggles of leading as a dad and husband. His five year old boy had breathing problems this week, leading to a night in the hospital, and the marital tensions that come with high stress and lack of sleep. Thursday, March 24, 2011. May we all be His hands and His feet. Friday, March 18, 2011. But this is not enough.

Mark&Ali: May 2012
http://markandali.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 25, 2012. We have had a lot of support and inspiration from friends as we've been working towards a major goal - the opening of a halfway house for our homeless friends who want to change their lives. This goal has been coming to life faster than I can keep up with! As our three small households have become ready, Eric moved in with his wife Kenya and their baby daughter Lauren. They will serve as our case managers, and have been getting settled in and preparing to serve incoming residents.

Mark&Ali: December 2010
http://markandali.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 30, 2010. We recently enjoyed a wonderful Christmas celebration in keeping with the purpose of Jesus' coming - reconciliation. We wanted to bring together our church families, homeless, and the men from rehab so that the redemptive work of Christ could shine, so we threw a Christmas banquet! The guys did show up! One of our guys from the rehab crew actually came out of our homeless crew and gave the example of a life changed to his old friends. He reminded them that this new life i...

Mark&Ali: Changing Life
http://markandali.blogspot.com/2012/02/changing-life.html
Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Keeping up with our life is beyond me, so to think that my writings will keep others up to speed, well. To get past my bloggers block I am going to reduce the subject mater down to the the major changes within our household in the last two weeks. We've hit big big land markers. First off, Eric has moved into the halfway house! At the end of 2011 his mom called saying he had disappeared. We searched and prayed but never heard anything before we left the country for Christ...

Mark&Ali: Camp Roots 2012
http://markandali.blogspot.com/2012/03/camp-roots-2012.html
Wednesday, March 7, 2012. So at the end of Camp Roots 2011, while we were still driving home on buses full of ecstatic teenagers and all their unorganized luggage, left over camp supplies, and the oh-so-recognizable blend of pure exhaustion and fulfillment … right then I was poked and asked, “What’s the theme next year? Let me survive the hangover of Camp Roots 2011 first, please! But the question would not leave me alone. I, too, was curious about what God would create and inspire in 2012.
