http://julie-acountrygirl.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 27 December 2014. Twelve days of Christmas right? Today is the third day. Time for change over. One group of guests depart. Today is the day for farewell and blessings. For greetings and welcome. A day for (more) food. You lived in a family. You welcomed visitors into your parent's home. You showed hospitality in many different homes. Friend and stranger shared a table with you. Help us to offer a welcome. This and every day. Reminding us, that in welcoming. We may entertain angels. It is tradi...

A Country Girl: August 2015

Friday, 21 August 2015. A Communion Story Liturgy. When God looked at the world, God saw that the people were toiling; seeking; searching; they were lost and alone; they knew God, but they still strayed, they were caught up with life and living and distractions surrounded them. So God saw this and chose to make things better for them. God sought to show them a new way, a better way, a gentler more compassionate way of living. How to do this? How deep was God’s love? How deep was the Father’s love? And th...

There are phrase that are in common use that folks quote regularly that are sourced from the bible; and there are popular songs that use words based from scriptures. And today we read from a book that is often used as a source. 8220;cast your bread on the waters”. 8220;nothing new under the sun”. 8220;eat drink and be merry”. 8220;a time for everything”. A Country Girl: May 2015
http://julie-acountrygirl.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 19 May 2015. It is only Tuesday but it feels already that we've been deliberating long and hard. I have noticed a strange atmosphere this year - there feels to be fewer folks really engaging in the debate; there seems to be reluctance to stand up and be counted. Saturday, we made a momentous decision, which will send ripples across our church and beyond. And later in the week, we will begin the process of discussing the solemnisation of marriage - what will that bring? Where will it take us?

Sunday, 28 September 2014. Standing on the Edge sermon for 28th September. Exodus 14: 10-14 and 21-29). 8220;There is hardly anything more obvious than the fact that evil is present in the Universe”. Martin Luther King, preaching on today’s text said this:. 8220;The death of the Egyptians upon the seashore is a glaring symbol of the ultimate doom of evil in its struggle with good. This is our hope.”. 8220;There is hardly anything more obvious than the fact that evil is present in the universe”. Today, ou...

A Country Girl: January 2015

Saturday, 24 January 2015. Sermon January 25: Time to count your blessings. This has been quite a week. Working on three funerals takes time; but it also leads to some wonderful moments of blessing and grace. At the start of the week, I decided I had better get organised and choose the hymns to go with the reading and theme – which meant of course I had to pick a theme! Some of you may remember that we had this exact same passage last year – and some of you may not! So, maybe I should have stuck with the...
