Renaissance Lit: Call for Papers: Special Issue of Shakespeare on “Shakespeare and Jonson”

http://earlymodern-lit.blogspot.com/2014/02/call-for-papers-special-issue-of.html

Happenings and cavorts in the early modern world. Friday, February 28, 2014. Call for Papers: Special Issue of Shakespeare on Shakespeare and Jonson. What value, then, is to be found in reviving the old double act? How, now, can they speak to each other? What can their conjunction reveal that might otherwise remain obscure? This, in a year that sees the quatercentenary of the publication of Jonson’s first folio and of Shakespeare’s death, is what we seek to find out with this special issue of Shakespeare.

Falling Leaves: January 2010

http://autumnitas.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Monday, 18 January 2010. Walking through the mist. As I left the University this evening, a fairly heavy mist was hanging in the air. I know from friends and family who drive that this sort of weather is not good for driving, but for me walking to the bus, and then home from the bus stop, it isn't really a problem. In some ways I quite like it. It's atmospheric. Literary. It feels a little like walking through the pages of a Victorian novel. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Falling Leaves: Beautiful Beliefs (5)

http://autumnitas.blogspot.com/2012/06/beautiful-beliefs-5.html

Wednesday, 20 June 2012. It is easy to take hard working people for granted, but we shouldn’t! This is not a post to big up my own efforts though, and ‘hard working’ doesn’t only apply to academics! However small or large the task, acknowledging others' efforts can make a big difference. Say thank you to your mum or dad or other loved ones (thank you to the Physio for making me dinner! Falling Leaves: March 2010

http://autumnitas.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 23 March 2010. Seeing differently 2: confidence and criticism. I know I said in my previous ‘seeing differently’ post that we shouldn’t judge by each other’s standards, but in this post I’m going to suggest that we take into account what others think we are capable of (only if it’s positive! We are often so much more ‘down’ on ourselves than we should be. I need to start seeing myself, my work, my abilities differently. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Falling Leaves: December 2009

http://autumnitas.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, 17 December 2009. Seeing differently 1: making your own way. As Christmas and then the new year approaches (one of my students recently said that 2010 sounded scarily futuristic, and she may be right), this is the first of a few posts on seeing differently. This one began as an email to a friend responding to his Facebook status update on feeling ‘behind’ in comparison to his colleagues. Saturday, 5 December 2009. Building up to Christmas. Towards all people. And the lady in front of me in ...

‘Your Guess is as Good as Anyone’s!’ |

https://idletales.wordpress.com/2010/03/12/‘your-guess-is-as-good-as-anyone’s’

Your Guess is as Good as Anyone’s! March 12, 2010 in editing. There are few things as impenetrable as an old joke. Look at the confusion caused by one of Sir Andrew Aguecheek’s exchanges with Feste in. The feeble-witted Sir Andrew tells the fool, Feste, ‘In sooth, thou wast in very gracious fooling last night, which thou spok’st of Pigrogromitus, of the Vapians passing the equinoctial of Queubus. ’Twas very good, i’faith. I sent thee sixpence for thy lemen, hadst it? Stanley Wells and Roger Warren. In th...

Early Modern Life is Rubbish: Favourite self-delusional writing comments.

http://moscathegrouch.blogspot.com/2009/11/favourite-self-delusional-writing.html

Early Modern Life is Rubbish. This page is the receptacle for the outpourings of my overly caffeinated mind. Subjects will be entirely dependent on whatever is interesting/enraging me at any given time but will probably include literature, current affairs, videogames (probably old ones), horror and the trials and tribulations of researching for a Phd in early modern literature. Tuesday, 10 November 2009. Favourite self-delusional writing comments. So, what can we do? 11 November 2009 at 17:25. I am a per...

An Early Model Millennial

An Early Model Millennial. Wednesday, November 9, 2016. I've been busy, but not busy enough… I think I'll treat the return to the interwebs like tearing off a band-aid. Just jump right in. I love driving. I enjoy the feel of it. I'm not a car guy tho, I don't care what it is I just like driving. The control, the movement, the multi-tasking, the group dynamic of traffic. I'm weird and i embrace it. Music is a big part of that driving thing. Everywhere i go can be a journey. Then my day started…. I found i...
