It didn’t feel like a church you’d expect to find in the American Midwest. The service was conducted all in Spanish; the music, the prayer, even the sermon delivered by Steve was done in Spanish. Wednesday, December 8, 2010. El Gringo Grande se vuelve un Mexicano! Pastor Jim Ost and I went out to Iglesia Biblica Youth's AFTERMATH Youth Camp on the last night of festivities. I had real-handmade tamales, Abuelita hot chocolate and "elote" all in one night. Elote is roasted corn-on-the-cob with mayonaise and chili sauce slathered upon it. If you've seen "Nacho Libre" it's the stuff Nacho responds to with "GET THAT CORN OUTTA MY FACE! In one night, I experienced 3 full-on Mexican culinary delights.
