Friday, May 30, 2014. Trip to Holy Land - Day Two. We then had to take the Metro with our passes to the Big Bus Paris office to pick up our one-day tickets to the Hop-On, Hop-Off bus, which takes you on a full circuit of the city. No one can mistake the glassed triangle of the Louve. There are 37 bridges across the Seine River in Paris! After we rode the bus a short time, we hopped off at Notre Dame Cathedral and went inside. Gargoyle comes from a Latin word, meaning gullet or drain. That’s wha...The tot...

Wednesday, February 19, 2014. A Fantastic Belated Valentine! This year on Valentine's Day, my date was my grandson, Brady, since I was in Orlando while both Kyle and Kim were out of town, so I was watching Carter and Brady. When I told Brady he was going to be my date, he asked, "What's a date? We had a great time seeing the "Lego's" movie in 3-D. So, when I got home after being in Orlando for four days, George had a fantastic belated Valentine evening for us! Thanks so much, Shirlene! Since the main cha...

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Baltic Cruise - June 30, 2016 Helsinki, Porvoo, and Countryside of Finland. Today our stop was in Helsinki, Finland. We took a bus tour through the highlights of the city. The Finns are notorious sauna-fiends: the country is home to five million inhabitants and there are over three million saunas in Finland, yielding an average of one sauna per household. For a two and a half minute relaxation in the ferris wheel sauna, it will cost about $267 American dollars! The Helsinki train ...

We were so excited when Alison told us that Tyson had a soccer tournament in Portland and they were flying there for the tournament which would last the weekend. She asked if we could meet them there. Of course! It was only three hours away, so off we went! I believe this is Mount St. Helens that you can see in the background. Great fun for ...

Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Family Times in July. So, I haven't blogged for a month now, but in between that time, we were able to go on a wonderful 16-day journey to England and a Baltic Cruise. I will blog that journey as soon as I get the pictures that other family members took. We tell everyone that we have goats literally right in our back yard. It's true! Hannah loved them, and she and Ella named them all and fed them leaves which they loved. So many beautiful colors! The owner let the girls spray the ...

Tuesday, April 15, 2014. After being home for only six days, I was off again for Dallas. George joined me a week later. The first reason for the trip back to Dallas was to tend Craig and Cassie's children for six days while they went on a cruise. While they were having a great time on the cruise . . . However, I really had a great time and enjoyed all we did together. Every day, Cassie had a little gift for the kids to open, so they really looked forward to that when they woke up. Riley's favorite food i...

Thursday, June 26, 2014. Trip to Holy Land - Day Thirteen and Fourteen. Today, May 17, 2014, was Saturday or the Jewish holy day Shabbat. The Jewish weekend is Friday and Saturday. We drove past Jewish neighborhoods in eastern Jerusalem. The neighborhood gates are closed on the Sabbath and Jews are supposed to stay within their area. If anyone enters the closed neighborhood, their car is showered with stones. Israelis will not be driving today because of Shabbat – cars were parked everywhere. The walk fr...

Tuesday, September 9, 2014. And the Month with my Dad Sadly Draws to a Close. Well, we had a great month with my dad, trying to pack in as many activities as we could before he went back to the West. However, we were able to pack a couple more activities before he left. Visit to the Jacksonville Zoo. The Jacksonville Zoo is 100 years old, but it has certainly changed from when George went there as a little boy. It is one of my personal favorites to go to, and I just knew my dad would love it, too! This f...

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. To California for Preston's Baptism. It is always so thrilling as grandparents to see your grand children making wise choices. Preston, who is John and Alison's son, chose to be baptized, so George and I headed for California to be part of his special day. To watch a short video about the importance of this sacred covenant, click on the link below. The Importance of Baptism and Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Plus- he's a lot of fun to be around! While Parker was telling ...
