March Comes In Like A Lion. Did you know that on Leap Year. Females are permitted to propose. Don't make me beg. We miss you Johnny! Did you see how the Jets played last night without you? Man I can't believe Winnipeg Jets management did this to me. A guy pours his heart and soul into a comic strip. Orders 1,000 ADVENTURES OF JOHNNY ODUYA t-shirts, and banks his whole future on the success of this new enterprise . and the next thing you know the lead character is traded to the Black Hawks. I know a numbe...

Sept 23, 2013: Now That’s ‘Howe’ It’s Done. Sep, 23, 2013. For the first time in our K-9 Nose Work careers, my brother Logan and I were participating in the same scent work trial. In this friendly Greyhound grudge match, the youngster got the better of me, but I’m filled with pride in how Logan performed. The Container search was next, and here there were nearly 30 items to search. Suitcases, duffle bags, backpacks, purses, and plastic buckets from Lowes. Logan alerted on the bucket first, and th...In fi...

Dec 20, 2013: Animal-Assisted Therapy & Music Therapy A Dynamic Duo. Dec, 20, 2013. I get pretty excited about every hospital visit, but today seemed extra special. When we got to the CancerCenter, I could hear music. A patient had brought his guitar, and along with his wife they preformed some Christmas carols. Next Post →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Nov 28, 2013: A Grateful Greyhound Thanks You. Nov, 28, 2013. This time of year is also when I mark my anniversary at the hospital. I completed my second year, and my friendbeast tells me I made contact with more than 560 people at the hospital this past year. That includes patients, visitors, and staff. I’m always greeted with enthusiasm and affection at the hospital, for which I’m always thankful. Next Post →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Your email address will not be published.

K9 Nose Work – BoomBoom
http://www.boomboomgreyhound.com/k9-nose-work
Mention dog sports, and most people think of agility, flyball or dock jumping; all focusing on a dog’s athleticism. The fastest growing dog sport, however, is one based on what dogs do naturally sniff and hunt. It was a trio of Southern California trainers Amy Herot,. Ron Gaunt, and Jill Marie O’Brein. The training starts simply enough with having your dog search empty boxes until they find the one with food in it. Eventually you pair that food with cotton swabs scented with sweet birch oil. Grad...The t...

BoomBoom is a Greyhound rescue dog. Although his father was a hall-of-fame racing dog, BoomBoom did not follow in those paw prints. He’s quick and agile, but did not have the speed and drive needed to succeed at the track. Although classified as a sight hound, BoomBoom has proven he can also use his nose for hunting. He has trained in the new sport of K9 Nose Work and is a member of the National Association of Canine Scent Work. He is the first Greyhound to earn a Nose Work title. National Association of...

He's All About the Love. And More! Racing School Dropout Quickly Gives Comfort. BoomBoom was bred to be a racing dog, but despite being sired by a hall-of-fame Greyhound, he was a dud at the track. Now he's a hall of famer in his own right, visting hospital patients as a member of the national Pet Partners program. Moving to Second Shift. Police officers, firefighters, hospital staff, anyone that works for a 24-hour operation knows about a "shift change." Now, so does a certain Greyhound.

Nov 7, 2013: It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over. Nov, 07, 2013. To paraphrase baseball Hall-of-Famer Yogi Berra, “A Pet Partner visit ain’t over till it’s over.”. I had a great visit at the hospital today. My friendbeast and I covered a lot of ground from one end of the hospital to the other. We visited several patient rooms, and spent time in a room were people were waiting for PET scans and CAT scans. (That all sounds like it involves animals and instead of humans, but what do I know.).
