There was an error in this gadget. Monday, March 29, 2010. Abraham Lincoln presented his speech at Gettysburg cemetery on November 19, 1863. This speech was important at this time because it was 6 months after the bloodiest battle in the Civil War, Battle of Gettysburg. This was a positive speech about everyone coming together. It gave the people a sense of hope and inspiration. The Gettysburg Address also commended the soldiers for sacrificing themselves for their devotion. Thursday, March 25, 2010.

There was an error in this gadget. Tuesday, April 6, 2010. The law that was recently passed by the president was free health care for everyone. This upsets a lot of people because they don't want to pay more to get a good doctor. It's possible medical plans could change to a lower standard because the government doesn't have money to pay for good health care plans. I agree. One of the causes of the Civil War was the issue of states' rights, or the right for states to determine their own laws (but not violate federal laws). While secession was an extreme response to the issue of states' rights, are there any political issues today that could spark a strong response by the states to federal mandates.
