Hello Again, Sydney: August 2006
http://backtosydney.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Hello Again, Sydney. One Sydney-sider's experiences moving back to Sydney after a long absence overseas. Thursday, August 31, 2006. I think the anecdote I trotted out most when overseas, to describe Australians, was the one about the survey they did here on the republic. Australians' three main concerns were:. Would we be still be able to compete in the Commonwealth Games? Would we still get the Queen's birthday as a public holiday? I can't remember the last one. Stay tuned for the Don Bradman novella.

Coupons from the Edge. Friday, June 30, 2006. I did it. I got to the end. At this moment, Victory stands at 84,233 words, which will change up or down, perhaps considerably after I "fix" the professor character. She is the one probably furthest from my heart emotionally so I intend to get in there and bolster her somehow. Classroom scenes will help, I think, and I have a wealth of material for THAT assignment. Does it need an oil change? I hate when mechanics scold me. Well, no, I don't think so. I heard...

Coupons from the Edge. Wednesday, October 26, 2005. A recurring occasional thought. Think about all the hours we spend sleeping. Midnight. You are out cold, dreaming, REM sleep not kicked in yet. That's the sleep where you do a lot of blinking with your eyes closed and thrash around like Freddy Kreuger. Or maybe it's dogs that do that. I thought REM was a rock band. 1am Squirrels chewing their way into weak house parts. Mice browsing through silverware drawer. You drooling into your pillow. 6am FINALLY t...

Coupons from the Edge. Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Okay, so I'm trying it. The other plan wasn't working. I know when I'm beaten and I was beaten. I started yesterday and I felt pretty hungry. My instincts were to go indulge my hunger but I didn't. I like the rocotta creme you get to have for a snack. That is good. I'm pretty sure the one I made was bigger than half a cup, though. Half a cup? So we'll see how it goes. Sorry for the rant. My agent Kristin has a great blog called. Sunday, February 26, 2006.

A Fictionista In Apple Country: April 2011
http://marinarichards.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
A Fictionista In Apple Country. Wednesday, April 20, 2011. The Secret to YA Novels. Ssshh, please don't tell anyone that there's a formula to writing novels. They'll think we're hacks. Because teenagers have the attention spans of ants. This is not a knock. They just do. I still do and I'm an old teenager. So in order to write to them, for them, about them, I keep my chapters VERY short. Not like this . But like this []. Seven pages max. Example: "Jackson, are you serious? Slams door behind her.). So he...

Coupons from the Edge. Friday, December 30, 2005. Why does everything have to be new? Why can't we keep shopping at the old places, then have them re-modeled and keep shopping there some more? But NOOOOOOOOOOOO, everybody has to build NEW malls and leave the old storefronts empty. It's stupid. Perhaps tantrums will serve me better than the current sniveling jellyfish routine I use now. Coupons from the Edge. Monday, January 30, 2006. My old high school, Mt. St. Mary's Academy in Little Rock, Ark., changed its name a few years ago to Mount St. Mary Academy. Well, lah dee freakin' da. I'm here to say I don't like it. What's wrong with St. Mary's? That's what everyone calls it anyway. Knowing that I'm saying it wrong makes me feel restive and rebellious. It puts me back in Sister Corona's library when I was compelled to roll an orange on the floor. OH DID YOU HEAR ME? NUN 2: Yes Sister.
