Elizabeth Inglee-Richards: How the mountain and moorland saved the native pony
http://elizabethingleerichards.blogspot.com/2015/02/how-mountain-and-moorland-saved-native.html
Wednesday, February 18, 2015. How the mountain and moorland saved the native pony. I’ve talked a bit about ponies as I’ve gone along. So by now you know that they are under 52 inches tall, or at least they are normally under that size. I’ve also talked about how some breeds are never ponies no matter how small they are. He took this photo that we found recently. It’s kind of cool, right? For the next few weeks I will be talking about ponies of the mountains, moors and the islands. Subscribe to: Post Comm...

Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Barb, easily confused? We think of this as a Spanish breed but the Barb comes from North Africa. When brought to Europe they were confused with a Middle Eastern breed, the Arab, because the owners of both breeds were mostly Arabic speakers. As someone mostly descended from Northern Europeans I find that really embarrassing. Barbs are small horses, mostly under 15.2 (62 inches) with a high head and withers and a sloping croup with a straight shoulder. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Saturday, March 28, 2015. Writing time for those with no time. I read writing blogs. I can’t imagine a writer who doesn’t read writing blogs from time to time. I get linked to a lot of blogs about time management. It makes sense, I don’t have much in the way of time and I am always interested in how other people handle lack of time. But here is the thing: the blogs always start off ‘I have a supportive partner who works, so I can stay at home and make up these worlds. 2) Use the time you have: if it is f...

Saturday, September 21, 2013. My husband shares that habit, and early in our life together we knew we were a good match because we both like to read at the dinner table. So what is comfort reading? For me it’s often an old favorite: the novels of Jane Austen, or the lesser—but far more prolific—Georgette Heyer; romantic adventure tales...Books He loves ...

Monday, October 6, 2014. The first thing about me is that I write. That's why I identify with spiders. Arachne - Spider - is Nature's great spinner and weaver, bringing her webs into being out of her center. In many Native American stories, Spider Woman is the creator goddess, spinning all the webs of life and kinship, time and magic, out of apparent nothingness. Myself, I am a spinner of words, and what I bring forth from my center is stories. So here we are: I'm blogging. Why I write about a small town.
ArachneAlison: Being accessible vs. "selling out"

Thursday, January 28, 2016. Being accessible vs. "selling out". Besides writing pop fiction (sweet romance, magical romance, and my latest foray into something new spicy sci-fi romance! I've been at work for more than a decade on a big, sprawling cross-genre work that takes an oblique look at the nature of the mother-daughter bond by examining my late mother's life and our relationship through biography, memoir, and fantasy. This poem about Older Women by local poet. Seems to fit here. Who are willing to...

Sunday, March 29, 2015. How do YOU carve out the time to write? Here's a great post from fellow-writer Elizabeth Inglee-Richards. I love Elizabeth's work, bold and quirky urban fantasy. Her straightforward, deceptively simple style can convince you that nothing is more likely or natural than a pro hockey team composed of were-hyenas. Yes, you read that right. Pro hockey. Were-hyenas. They're called Bouda. You want to read more. Here's one. Never mind. You don't really want to know. Tuesday, March 24, 2015.

Tuesday, February 24, 2015. A picture of a bookstore leads me to a fabulous site. A few weeks back I was looking online for attractive photos of independent bookstores. I found this. Being kind of clueless at times, I neglected to find out where the pretty picture came from. My bad. I should not have shared it without knowing that and crediting the source. Well, here's that source, and I am so glad I found it. Monday, February 2, 2015. My Valentine story is out! Here it is: Heart of Stone. American Glass...

Just another WordPress.com site. Hola de A Guarda. September 25, 2010. Hey all, this is my first entry since arriving in Spain, and I have been through a lot! The flights on my way here were very long, the seats tiny, and not to mention nervous tension to make it that much worse. In total, I traveled 20 hours, my connecting flight from Madrid to Vigo was delayed 2 hours, and I was exhausted at that point, wanting to do nothing more than get in bed and recuperate. So for this next week, I’m hoping I...

Finally, on February 20th, after weeks of painfully slow communications, the shop owner I pitched placed an order. For 36 arrangements, that will be shared between two different gift shops! Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Day 12 - Jennifer Chambers. 8220;Twelfth Night,” refers of course to both the play by Shakespeare and to the last of the Twelve Days Of Christmas. This last night is also the Catholic holiday of the Feast of Epiphany. In different cultures, this twelfth night after Christmas day is the day that the three Magi arrived in Bethlehem ( the“We Three Kings” of the song) or the day of Christ’s baptism. So I guess I’m saying it’s all about the food, drink, and people, which ...This is a...

Investigating, translating and transcribing with stitch, text, image and sound. The Ties that Bind. I needed forty feet of cloth-covered cord for the Prairie Skin in order for each side to have two ten-foot cords. I suppose I thought that if one took the trouble to make a wrapping cloth for a human body, it ought not to come unwrapped. So, I needed 40 feet of bias strips of cloth to make the cords. I printed more fabric:. I cut bias strips:. I chose the cording method. Here are my completed cords:. When ...
