Erica Matthews' English Language A Level Blog: You Should Always Use English Correctly

http://enlangericamatthewsem.blogspot.com/2015/09/you-should-always-use-english-correctly.html

Erica Matthews' English Language A Level Blog. Thursday, 17 September 2015. You Should Always Use English Correctly. There’s a lot of controversy about whether or not you should always use English correctly. Should shorthand and ‘slang’ be disregarded completely? Or should they be used more often? Personally I am against always using English correctly because generally there is no need for it. Does the meaning of ‘correct’ English change? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://enlangericamatthewsem.blogspot.com/2015/09/language-scrapbook-2.html

Erica Matthews' English Language A Level Blog. Sunday, 27 September 2015. The purpose of this artical is to interest new people into coming into the shop, as well as informing them that they are actually there. The text seems to be all for publicity to the implied readers of adults. Whereas at the same time the information is written in a way where you would only read it, it wouldn't be spoken as it is too structured. Finally, the text has many positive connotations which intend to make the reader seem i...

Erica Matthews' English Language A Level Blog: Should Slang be Banned?

http://enlangericamatthewsem.blogspot.com/2015/09/should-slang-be-banned.html

Erica Matthews' English Language A Level Blog. Sunday, 27 September 2015. Should Slang be Banned? In conclusion, if students were taught the reasons behind why teachers want slang banned from the classroom, then they would more likely naturally turn to speaking more formal. But I also believe that teachers and mentors, such as Lindsay Johns, need to understand and realise that there is more kinds of slang than just 'Street Slang', and that by being bi-dialectal can prove to be more of an advantage.

Cari's English Language A Level Blog

Cari's English Language A Level Blog. Thursday, 4 February 2016. I came across this article on the East Norfolk English twitter page where I found it was originally by a journalist at ‘The Guardian’ online. The main point of this article is that when children change or invent language, we actually all benefit from it. The woman who has written this claims that the best part of hearing children speak for the first time is when they get words wrong and end up creating their own little language. It can beco...

Sophie's English Language A Level Blog. Tuesday, 20 October 2015. Should Slang Be Banned? Even people in Parliament, such as David Cameron, have been known to speak slang so it is clearly a very common way of speaking. Slang is just another variation of English and should not be banned.
