The Enterprise Africa Vehicle. I admit to being a total innocent when it comes to cars. I have never been interested in them beyond their ability to deliver you from A to B warm and dry. Motorcycles are more my thing. The mods are many and probably OTT but on this trip I do want to be totally prepared from the off rather than building something by trial and error on the way. I want time to enjoy the places and people we visit and meet. Mods for sad people like me:. OME shocks and springs (2 inch raise).

The Enterprise Africa route. First day we went Bath-Portsmouth-Caen-then 20km south of Rennes (Janze). Stayed there 2 nights then to Moulins(North-west of Lyon), then to Chambery and onto Italy (Turin, Milan, Trieste via the Mont Blac tunnel). Then into Slovenia and Croatia down coast via Rijeka and Dubrovnik. Went as far as Albanian border at Podgorica, but didn t go into Albania. Turned back and through Pristina to Skopje and onto Thessaloniki in Greece. Crac de Chevaliers - Syria. Wadi Halfa - Sudan.

Wednesday, October 25, 2006. Land Rover Defender: These are vehicles with many flaws, but they also have character by the bucket load (By character I am not talking about unreliability! Anyway the build quality is a joke and would have your average Japanese production engineer reaching for his Zantac at the very least if not actually falling on his sword in shame. Many of the engineers (but not Matthew Shearn not my brother-in-law), especially in the ergonomics department (if they even have one!
