In a region like Jaffna, where although water is a scarce resource agriculture either at commercial scale or as home garden is plentiful, the need for an affordable automated irrigation system is a must. YIT's DIA project tries to solve this problem. The team is working with a target to get an end to end prototype working by early June and then to have a complete blue print ready in three months time. Looking forward to an exciting time ahead. Thursday, February 28, 2013. Train token and database locking. I've always had a great fondness for train related pictures. A simple search for the keyword 'train' on this blog will reveal more than 5 posts on the same topic. So today I adding one more in black and white. The picture captures the tablet being passed to the train driver. But the interesting thing is when doing algorithm design to solve problems perhaps we can actually find inspiration from past solutions and at times even from nature.

Saturday, May 7, 2011. What is 3.75G? With the recent launch of 3.75G data services in Sri Lanka, there is a lot of discussion about the different numbers associated with the G's. In the process of commercialization the 3GPP revisions had been marked as 3.5G, 3.75G, 3.9G. I had tried to tabulate the releases, commercial terms, and the features which would make the comparisons easier I guess. Its not complete, will try to update with more details,.
