Food Scene Investigation: Sydney: Oscillate Wildly, Newtown -- or -- They grow up so fast
http://foodscenesydney.blogspot.com/2012/05/oscillate-wildly-newtown.html
Food Scene Investigation: Sydney. Sunday, May 27, 2012. Oscillate Wildly, Newtown - or - They grow up so fast. I first visited Oscillate Wildly about three years ago, shortly after Karl Firla took over the kitchen. It was mostly good, though a couple of dishes missed the mark for me. (Gnocchi with coffee grounds on top was a bit too weird at the time.). After visiting Sixpenny in Stanmore a few months ago. It was time to go back to Oscillate and see how they compared. Goes for complexity and balance....

Food Scene Investigation: Sydney: Oldtown in Newtown II: Dinner -- or -- Everything Oldtown is Newtown again
http://foodscenesydney.blogspot.com/2013/07/oldtown-in-newtown-dinner.html
Food Scene Investigation: Sydney. Saturday, July 6, 2013. Oldtown in Newtown II: Dinner - or - Everything Oldtown is Newtown again. Previously on F.S.I. Sydney:. Breakfast at Oldtown in Newtown. I'm on something of an Italian. Train of thought here. Train of eat, anyway. I accept none of the blame. It's wintry cold and these places right in my neighbourhood keep promising hot, meaty stews. So I'm heading back in. And this time I'm bringing. I couldn't possibly eat another bite. Who am I kidding? The serv...

Food Scene Investigation: Sydney: Higashi Japanese Restaurant, Leichhardt -- or -- The Glitch
http://foodscenesydney.blogspot.com/2012/10/higashi-japanese-leichhardt.html
Food Scene Investigation: Sydney. Saturday, October 20, 2012. Higashi Japanese Restaurant, Leichhardt - or - The Glitch. I found a restaurant that almost doesn't exist on the internet. No website. No facebook. Urbanspoon has a few reviews (and 100% approval rating), but no menu, and fake contact details. How weird is that? The food was good, too. Reliable, with some standout favourites - sashimi, tofu teriyaki and udon. 131 Norton St, Leichhardt. Posted by Pete Lead. Labels: $30 or less. There IS no sash...

Food Scene Investigation: Sydney. Saturday, February 16, 2013. South Coast Portraits: Berry and beyond. The Bureau is going through some corporate re-jig. I don't know what's going on, Molly. Don't know how much you know. This ground was recently trodden by the extremely capable Not Quite Nigella. And other places in the region by the reasonably capable me. But this time I've been sent down to Berry to 'get some perspective'. Well, Molly, maybe I did bring something back with me after all. Anything you d...

Food Scene Investigation: Sydney. Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Greek Special: Nostos, Leichhardt and Steki Taverna, Newtown. The Greek Financial situation means a lot of people there are doing it tough. In fact, a lot of countries' economies have been hit hard. Australians are comparatively doing well, but even here people are trying to cut back on spending. Like eating at restaurants. Food Scene Investigation: Sydney: Postcards from Vietnam part 4: Hoi An part 2

Food Scene Investigation: Sydney. Sunday, March 17, 2013. Postcards from Vietnam part 4: Hoi An part 2. Day 3: Animals / exploring. In the way into town from Da Nang we finally saw the iconic Vietnam scenery we'd been hanging for: rice padis being worked by locals in straw pointy hats. Although bicycles were available to us, you have to be braver and surer than I on two wheels in traffic to actually try to transport yourself by this method. (Okay, it was far. Along with all the animals which contribute to.
