You are here - shadows of echoes of memories of songs. 10:44 pm November 20th, 2014. I also don't know who's reading this any more. I'm terrible at keeping up with reading LJ myself, so I feel I can't really ask other people to read/comment on what I write; and while I sit there chewing my fingernails in that particular dark cave of fail, lots of beautiful friendships melt away. Who's reading this? Have you all gone to Dreamwidth? Comment by Angelic Eye for the Gendered-Species Individual. I am here and ...

Nick Griffin speaks. - Mr Rs livejournal. That could be bullshit. Oct 23rd, 2009 @ 11:26 am. That wasn't Question Time, it was a lynch mob.'. How dare he compare himself to the victims of lynch mobs? Did he even know what he was saying, and how ironic it was? According to the Times website, the BBC has received something like 250 complaints about Griffin's 'unfair treatment', 115 complaining that he was even invited onto the show, and only 59 comments praising the broadcast. That could be bullshit.

Baroness Thatcher - Karen

Baroness Thatcher - Karen. April 8th, 2013. I wrote about today back in 2005. I've already unfollowed about four people on Facebook and one on Twitter for suggesting her death is something to be celebrated. I'll keep doing that. *shrugs*. I feel very strongly indeed that:. A) death is not something to be celebrated, ever [sometimes it's a relief]. B) there's no good reason to be insulting a newly dead person. The insults can wait for a couple of months. C) how we treat and talk about the dead is important.

Mata Hari strikes back. - Gideon Hallett. July 2nd, 2010. 10:19 am - Mata Hari strikes back. I can't be the only one getting a little annoyed at the coverage of Anna Chapman; especially the quotes from her ex-husband. Towards the end of our marriage she became very secretive, going for meetings on her own with 'Russian friends', and I guess it might have been because she was in contact with the Russian government."'. I mean, really? To do with 'Reds Under The Beds'. July 2nd, 2010 09:24 am (UTC). Not as ...

Over a month ago,. Very kindly lent us his car (. S trusty old friend Hrududu) so that we could try to drive to Cambridge to deliver a moses basket to. And to look at cargo bikes (and to say hello to all you tabs over there! It will be a shame not to come and see you all, but hopefully we'll be able to do a general v...

Signal handling in roguelike games [screed] - Martin Read. Signal handling in roguelike games [screed]. Feb 20th, 2008 11:17 pm. Head hurts because brr. I posted this message to RGRD earlier today; this is the slightly-better proofread version. There are several ways to deal with fatal signals received by your roguelike; here follows an incoherent screed on the subject. 2) A simple New Jersey way: Don't attach any signal handlers, just let fatal signals kill your process. Q: What's wrong with doing it th...

Foreverdirt linked to this excellent talk about sexism in - Mlisilinaath Thabana. Read my inane wibblings at DW too. May 7th, 2008. Excellent talk about sexism in science, the talk is an hour long and there are introductions before and questions after so it is a bit long, but I think worth it. May 7th, 2008 10:14 am (UTC). Edited at 2008-05-07 10:14 am (UTC). May 7th, 2008 10:17 am (UTC). Yes, it's very silly of them. May 7th, 2008 02:14 pm (UTC). How it works (XKCD). May 7th, 2008 10:21 am (UTC). Oh, it...

Random fiction question: non-magical archaeology - Simon Tatham. Random fiction question: non-magical archaeology. The Ark of the Covenant, the Holy Grail, the Dagger of Xian, etc, all really do perform as advertised. What are the best known examples of fictional archaeologists who do. Unearth ancient magical artefacts, and the only thing they ever find out is information about what happened in the past? For these purposes, I think I'm going to rule that the actual archaeological discoveries have to be.
