Where there is no vision, the people perish. The museum, is, of course, in the firing line for the council's "cuts". It has already closed an arts centre which housed 42 organisations and provided two theatres, a good-sized hall and various meeting rooms, a bar and bistro. Need I tell you tens of thousands have been spent on sports facilities? Negotiations with various parties are, we are told, under way to seek "a new business model" and the museum will, it is hoped, be "in community hands" In March 2016.

There was I, standing in the slowly-moving Christmas queue in our local post office and idly looking at the the fancy goods display and the cartoon mugs when my eye was caught by a sort of elongated egg cosy, knitted in red and with a white "fur" and plastic holly leaf trim. "? I thought. Then I saw the label. "Willy Wear". Both. Will vouch for this being a respectable neighbourhood. It does, however, pose three questions. Who? And most of all "WHY? Is anyone willing to enlighten me/confess?

Today our paperboy is 18. Today, as is usual when one person in the street cancels owing to a holiday, the gormless youth cocked up the whole street's delivery. We got no 20's mirror, no 25 got our Telegraph, no 21 realised the mistake (he was up early) and chased the lad. Or that the paper for the absentees isn't in his bag. Touch me up, Buttercup. Imagine a middle-aged, slightly overweight and not very stylish woman, accused by a young, handsome male colleague of inappropriate touching. You can't, can you? Was discussing the Opies earlier today (husband and wife team who collated children's rhymes etc.) and I found the wikipedia entry on 'truce terms' used by children (the most widespread geographically being 'pax'). It doesn't mention Yorkshire, and I can't remember any such word being in use. Tell me, oh. LJ peeps, did you have truce words? And where are you from?
