Sunday, 18 August 2013. Big Lift Day - Parlick. Every now and again a thermal would come through and straighten up the lift making things ballistic, the Stinger sure shifts in good air, frighteningly quick, takes a lot of concentration and eventually I had to bail out for a rest! A great day out with clear views out to sea, too windy for the paragliders and the full size gliders were maxing out a few hundred feet above me, so I had the slope to myself. Sunday, 26 May 2013. East Lomond Scottish Summer League Rd2. Went to Scotland yesterday to compete in the SSL at East Lomond, the forecast was good with bright sunshine and light winds and it was a great opportunity to try the Stinger in its first race. An easy 200 mile drive from Lancaster to East Lomond Hill near Falkland only took three and half hours and the first person I met in the car park was fellow southerner Mark Redsell! Monday, 3 August 2015. An intense mornings set-up. A fantastic mornings flying on what's fast becoming my favourite cliff site. The sea winds have given some great flying this summer. The wind direction was on the shortest section of the slope, about 130m. My new willow 2 set up has the snapflap reduced to 2mm and only coming in at the end of the stick thow. Saturday, 4 July 2015. Almost the perfect day. After far too long in the car I've arrive in Yorkshire and the hole of horcum. 5 hours of flying with the willow 2 and its time for fish and chips with a beer. It's fantastic to be able to spend time setting up and enjoying the model on a race edge. Flying in land on a site with a large amount of thermal activity I love to fly in the same space and let the model and turns react to the energy available. A stunning afternoons flying. Settings are a very personal thing with gliders but as a start point. For the new Willow 2 model my suggested settings are-. This is a ballance neutal point. 5-6mm each way (measured at the root). I do not use a large amont of snap flap for my flying style, no more than 2mm of flap with the ailerons mirroring the movement. The flaps can me set up to come 90degrees down very easily.
