Family History Tools: Living Relatives

http://www.familytools.blogspot.com/2008/12/living-relatives.html

Friday, December 12, 2008. First and foremost on your list of available resources to figuring out who your ancestors are would be your living relatives. For some people, this is a pretty daunting thing . you have to talk to them. If you are curious about who your parents are, or what dates were important in their lives, you have to ask them. And it's easier to ask them while they're alive than afterwards. December 13, 2008 at 1:07 AM. I'm looking forward to interviewing out relations in a few more days!

Family History Tools: June 2009

Wednesday, June 3, 2009. Family History on the iPod. What is your favorite method to carry parts (or all) of your family history with you as you go out to perform research? Another approach I've tried (and usually love) is carrying a laptop around, running my full family history program and providing access to all the content. Unfortunately, the laptop is aging (very slow, quick to drain the battery, etc.), which makes it hard to justify the added bulk of carrying it around. Most recently, I started look...

Family History Tools: December 2008

http://www.familytools.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 12, 2008. A resource I love (my wife calls me a census stalker) is the US censuses. These were taken every 10 years since the US was a formal nation (so 1790, 1800, 1810, etc.). 2010 will be exciting, as it's a census year! All the info is incorporated into the census, and the aggregate numbers are released just about immediately upon being available. So you can pull up the total number of people living in the US in 2000, and a breakdown of what gender in each state, etc. Their index has...

Rick's Rants and Ramblings: December 2008

http://ricksrantsandramblings.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Rick's Rants and Ramblings. There's been a series of blog posts on various other blogs I've visited which discuss quirks a person has either noticed in themselves, or that others have noticed in them. 1) I like to watch movie trailers. Maybe it's because I'm picky about the content of movies I actually watch. After all, have you ever watched a movie trailer, and thought, wow, that's going to be an awesome movie! 3) I like flavors. Maybe this one's a spin off of the music one. I like to take a han...4) I ...

Rick's Rants and Ramblings: Family History Tools

http://ricksrantsandramblings.blogspot.com/2008/12/family-history-tools.html

Rick's Rants and Ramblings. I decided that I have enough interest (personally) in family history that it will need to be its own arena for publishing and discussing resources. So I'm splitting things off from here a little. Family history tools will be discussed here. I'm contemplating splitting off branches of my ancestors into their own blogs, and trying to track their info accordingly. I'll have to see how far that effort goes. Enjoy! I'm so pround of you!
