WCFIELDS: March 2010
http://farmerkeith.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 14, 2010. Keith is burning branches from the pruning of fruit trees and an old wooden fence. For awhile, I sat near-by toasting my legs while reading "Ava's Man" by Rick Bragg - a book club book- and helped to keep an eye on the fire while Keith drove the tractor to get more fence to burn. Then we roasted hot dogs. Keith is still outside burning - I came in to practice my latest song on the Uke - the classic Carpenter's song - "Top of the World". How's your Sunday going? She has two kidds.
WCFIELDS: Mother's Day on the Farm
http://farmerkeith.blogspot.com/2012/05/mothers-day-on-farm.html
Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Mother's Day on the Farm. Sunday Morning, right on schedule, the eggs in the incubator started to hatch. Eight chicks have hatched. Not the best percentage, but better than none! In honor of Mother's Day, here's a little round up of all the chickies on the Farm. The chicks hatched the early part of April with their Mama Hen. Another Broody Hen, sitting on 5 chicken eggs, 1 turkey egg, and 2 wooden eggs. All should hatch the end of May, early June, of course not the wooden eggs.

Monday, April 30, 2012. The sun is shining. With the warm weather, the snow in the mountains is melting which means The River is rising. Soon Keith will put the irrigation "stuff" in the river to start watering the hay fields. All this beautiful weather is making so many plants come alive. The fruit trees are blooming,. Even the old cherry tree. Asparagus and rhubarb are popping up,. So we've planted the potatoes and onions. And there is so much green in the Green House! Thursday, April 26, 2012. The Mam...
WCFIELDS: December 2010
http://farmerkeith.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 27, 2010. Christmas Day and Boxing Day - Yeah! Now my memory may be faulty, but I do think this is the first Christmas I've celebrated since I was a Mom that no Kids were with us. Thank goodness for the Phone! With that handy invention and having Richard and Arlene with us it felt like our whole family was together. It seemed like Arlene and Richard arrived to an igloo instead of a yurt! Setting the Festive Table. Thank you Grace and Albert for the lovely flora arrangement! There is so m...

Thursday, March 3, 2011. The Bug is Back! Keith drove a rental to Amy and Kevin's to visit and bring back my sweet green car. Kevin's mechanic got him running beautifully, so that even in blinding snow, Keith made it home. That's the end of the story, the beginning started in October 2010. I decided a road trip to Mom and Dad's would be just the ticket, no planes or trains, I wanted the thrill of the black top. I've been on many a road trip - in the 60's with the family from Panama to Wisconsin in a VW.

purlpaw: Cardinal hat
http://purlpaw.blogspot.com/2012/10/cardinal-hat.html
I'm a daily grind librarian. Working so that I go on vacation, and buy more yarn. Saturday, October 06, 2012. Since I had to spend most of the day Thursday in hard chairs waiting for my car to be repaired, I actually got a knitting project finished. It's a hat for a young lady who is now a college freshman in a region that truly has a winter. The college's colors are red and black. I have enough of the fuzzy yarn left to trim a matching scarf. I have the same stuff in my stash! I love the colour.

The Simple Life: I Thought the Rockies were a Little Rockier than This...
http://alyssa-thesimplelife.blogspot.com/2012/01/denver.html
Sunday, January 1, 2012. I Thought the Rockies were a Little Rockier than This. This December I went to Denver for a conference. I was battling my third week of bronchitis and it was pretty cold out and so most of the time I would come home and go to bed. However, one day it was actually above 30 degrees, and sunny so I walked around in the afternoon and took some pictures. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The Simple Life: Do Dogs Hibernate?
http://alyssa-thesimplelife.blogspot.com/2012/01/do-dogs-hibernate.html
Sunday, January 8, 2012. My poor Hans has probably had about five walks in the last two months. He gets to go about two blocks once a day. Yesterday I ventured to walk them a little further and went 1.66 miles and paid for it this morning with an achy foot. So, in answer to the question, "Do Dog's hibernate? I give a resounding, "YES! Well, at least, yes if you buy them a new bed from COSTCO (seriously this one is like the Mercedes of doggy beds) and you don't exercise them at all! Are You Having a Girl?

Farm Girl in the City
Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Hen-pecked: a story of murder. Or maybe negligent homicide. I'm really not sure. In the last week or two we had noticed our "little girls" (who are now full size laying hens and we now have some more really little girls, yet somehow we keep calling these year old chickens "little girls") had lots of feathers missing on their booties. They are too young to molt, and a molt begins on the head neck and chest, not on the booty. It could mean only one thing: pecking. The next day Lu...
