RHET Dumfries and Galloway Countryside Initiative rely on the support of volunteer farmers throughout the region to carry out the work of the initiative and fulfil all the requests for help from schools. There are many ways in which volunteers are involved in the work of the initiative. Committee meetings are held quarterly. The committee manage the activity of the initiative. They also support the Project Co-ordinator. Helping with risk assessment of their farm and thereafter hosting visits.

RHET can arrange for a farmer to visit your classroom to talk about the countryside, food and farming. The farmers are trained to speak to any age group and talks will be structured to meet the curriculum requirements of individual groups. Our speakers arrive armed with a range of props, from wool samples to posters to videos. This service is provided free of charge to schools. To book a visit download a pdf file booking form here.
