UBC-VCH scientists use drug to repair a rare birth defect. February 3, 2014. I don’t get excited about research very often. Breakthroughs tend to be small and far away from being relevant to the patients I see day in and day out. The press release from UBC about the work of Dr. Cheryl Gregory-Evans is different. January 20, 2014. Comic Vision is a fundraiser for the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB). If you haven’t heard of the FFB they are the biggest private sponsor of Canadian research for inherited retinal diseases. When my goddaughter and her brother were diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa (an inherited form of blindness that onsets in childhood) I did my homework and decided this is where I wanted my time and money to go.
